Does Bath & Body Works have an "item limit per customer" policy?
The other day I was in B&BW for the semi-annual sale, and I decided to stock up on the Twisted Peppermint body scrub because I absolutely love it. Anyway, I was one of the first people in the store when it opened, as there were about 10 other people waiting outside for the doors to open. When we came in, I immediately was given a basket and went straight to the display of the Twisted Peppermint scrubs. There were 45 there, so I put them all in my basket and asked the sales associate if she had any left in the back. She said whatever was out was what they had left, so I decided buying 45 of them would certainly hold me out until the next holiday season when it came out, especially since I had another 15 at home. So that's 60 scrubs right there!

Well, here's where the trouble began. I was standing in line waiting to pay, and a few other customers came in asking about the Twisted Peppermint scrubs. The sales associate pointed to the display where they were, and saw there were none left. Then the customers saw I had all of them in my basket, and one woman starts SCREAMING that it's unfair that I took all of them. I told her I had been there before her and was intending on paying for them, and was already waiting in line. She threw a fit and insisted the manager be called out to "settle" the problem. The manager reluctantly came out, as the store was busy, and the customer starts telling her there should be an "item limit per customer" policy to prevent a single customer for buying the entire stock, because apparently it was unfair that I was allowed to buy 45 and she wasn't allowed to have any. She starts bitching that I should give her 10 from my basket because it was unfair to her. Long story short, I told her to get lost and I bought my 45 scrubs while she b*tched out loud the entire time I was being rung up.

My question is, is there an "item limit per customer" policy, saying that one customer can't buy more than a certain number of product? I've never had this problem before! I also shop at Yankee Candle and when my favorite scent, Cherry Lemonade, was discontinued I went and bought about 80 tarts, 50 votives, and 18 large jars they had left in that scent. None of those sales associates said anything...

If they have a limit it would be in the ad. Some have a reasonable quantity limit so people don't buy to resell on a loss leader but that is stated also.
If the women weren't being so loud it would have been nice to let her buy one instead of you but you did nothing wrong.

there shouldn't be a limit at a store like that. If i was the manager I would of slapped the ***** and showed her who runs Bath & Body works.

Love!

No, there is no item limit per customer. It's first come, first serve, and she should have acted like an adult and got over it. You were there first. Although if it had been me, I'd have let her have one, but not if she threw a hissy fit.

¡muy caliente!
I've never heard of an item limit per customer policy at all. Those mall-brand stores like Yankee Candle and Bath and Body Works mass produce so many of their items, you could probably buy as many as you wanted and the store would magically restock overnight, no kidding!

squirrelonfire2001
No, there is not an "item limit per customer" policy. That is bullshit that lady threw a fit and wanted 10 of yours when you were there before, so you should be able to buy as many as you want! I guess she was just hoping a manager/sales associate would say there was a limit so she would still be able to get what she wanted.

=D
You need to add more variety into your life!! 60 of the same scrubs! WTF? Anyways they shouldn't have an item limit per costumer, if person if buying in bulk and wants to give it away fine.

I know where you live.... Kyle!
Buying that many is CRAZY! I do the same thing at sales, just not of one product. Anyway, I cannot blame her for being unhappy, but she had no right to act like a baby, it`s not your fault! Just forget her.

b!
i take it you have the money to spend huh?
i have never witnessed anything like that at the bath and body works around here..since those things are at least $10
but anyway, if i was the lady, i would have been furious too
i wouldnt have thrown a fit though. if i was you and i was buying all of that and someone wanted a reasonable amount..i would have given it to them. 10 isnt reasonable..but 45 sure as heck isnt.
but i guess if you were there first then it was only fair, but if i was manager then i would have asked you nicley to share with the lady, but if you refused i would have just apoligized to the lady and maybe got her name and number and special ordered hers.

to prevent such things happening in the future, order online. you can get as much as you want, you might have to pay for shipping, but if you are out buying 45 to begin with then i dont guess money is a problem. and they go on sale after christmas and sometimes free shipping and buy one get one ect. keep that in mind next time.

Although the customer was wrong for making such a big deal, YOU should not have been so selfish! If I were you, I would have given her the 10 she wanted! I mean after all, YOU HAD 45 SCRUBS! Would it really kill you if you had 35 instead? Probably not. When you saw how upset she got you should have been generous (especially since it is still the holidays!) and given her what she asked for. And if I was the manager of that Bath and Body Works, I would have INSISTED you do so as well. I might have even told you the limit was 25 so you could give her 10 and put 10 back for others! Next time, be a little generous and kind!
