In response to your question . . .
I can give some directions but you didn't express what interest you, other than a legit home biz.
Firstly you should stay away from any and all websites that are filled with money-hype, promises, get-rich-quick schemes. Stay away from data entry, typing and posting ad jobs.
Alway research everything before investing.
The internet is not designed for mostly legit jobs, whereas you work for companies from home. Not enough of those jobs. Anything else are scams.
Secondly, the internet serves two basic purposes:
1. Provides information
2. Shopping (buying and selling)
The real money is in internet affiliate marketing. The are 100s of thousands of free affiliate programs that anyone can join to sell any free products/services imaginable. You can get free accounts, free support, free advertising material, free website (sometimes). You just have to learn how to sell over the internet.
You can get paid a commission up 75%+ everytime you send a customer to the vendors site, and the customer makes a puchase.

I agree with most of the answers. Selling wholesale products online or on Ebay is a good way to start, also direct sales or network marketing but both require a lot of hard work and motivation.
