There are data entry jobs available, but they are generally only available very locally. The pace of business today prohibits the type of data entry you remember from years back. However, there are always businesses which need to take analog data (maybe handwritten job applications, for example) and turn them into computer entries. Even with optical character recognition, there is still a need to data enter or verify what the system read. Occasionally, this work can be done from home once you've proven yourself with the employer.

Look for evening shifts for data entry (often found thru temp agencies) and once you've built a reputation, see if their servers can be accessed remotely so you could work from home. I think more and more of these jobs will be done at home, but they will extremely short time-lines, what comes in today needs to be in the system tonight, for example, with none of the flexibility you remember.

You can be an examiner for the OCR, if you have relevant qualifications and experience. It's actually quite hard work, but it is possible to support yourself, I know someone who does it for a living.
Or how about proof-reading? Many publishers employ proof readers who work from home. |

Medical transcription IS a high employing job. I've been doing it for 8 years (from home) and make great money. You do have to know where to look in terms of schools, etc. and those seminars are B.S. There is absolutely NO shortage of work in this industry. Again, be careful of the "schools and seminars." |

Aaaaargh! Flashbacks! I tried data entry... HORRIBLE. You can put in the search 'working from home' into Google and a ton of ideas come up, the majority poorly paid. Don't try currency trading! The better thing to do is find out your own abilities, then learn a trade according to your abilities from home perhaps over the internet and then work from home doing that trade. For example computer programing, web design etc something useful. It could be something practical like making something. Before you study something, you need to check if you will be able to get a job at the end... that's important! |

The ones that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ).

I have other ideas that may help - one of them is an online opportunity but another is one that will require a little effort to market yourself - try some data entry for local businesses, many of them don't have the time to do it in-house and will gladly pay someone else to do it. Professionals are a good place to start, lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, etc - they need their "in-house" folks doing other things rather than busy work.

Well I can tell you where you can find a large listing of legit companies in various work fields that hire people who wnat to work from home and what are the various ways by which you can work at home and make money from home.
