Ok I do realize now that I spelled legitimate incorrectly. My bad. Thank you to everyone who has answered. I am a full time graduate student, so working for home/computer is the only way for me to make any money as of now. Please continue to submit your answers if you have any. Again thanks for everyone who has helped as of yet.

There are not that many companies that will hire someone that they don't know to work out of their home. The ones that do, you won't make a sufficient amount of money at. I suggest you start your own home based business and work it out of your home. The income opportunity is far greater then just a job. That's what I did. Other jobs are minimum wage or your lucky to find one that's semi decent at 8 to 10 dollars an hour. However, when the work is done, or they're done, your done then as well. You'll be out of a job soon and back to square one again.
That's why I suggest starting your own business and work it from home. You'll never be fired or laid off from your job because you own it. I would suggest looking into something that is practical, things that people use every day and can't live without. Not something that is here or there and something simple.
I created a blog on my 360 page on home based business. A lot of people I know are involved in different home based business and do quite well. Your more then welcome to take a look at what their doing for some more ideas.

You can be a stenographer, but you would have to be able to spell legitimate.

Mary Kay is good but you need to invest in it. Most you see online are scams. they promice the world and then tell you the cost. I signed up for one but you have to buy the thing your self to start getting paid and its not cheap./

This is a very hot subject, tons of people asking and no good answers that I have found. One resource is a web site that I believe is WHAM, It is owned by women who support others trying to work from home Not sure if it is specific to women or not but it may be. Another that I found interesting is a woman named Tori Johnson who wrote an article and appeared on Good Morning America. She lists some sites that are legitimate companies who do hire people to work from home. It appears that those sites are customer service or travel related but you will have to check them out for yourself. I was not very impressed and leery of going further. Be careful searching for her. I think I accidentally found a porn site when I was looking for her. Search for her name + work from home on the GMA web site.

Good luck, I was not able to find much that was on the level or that did not want you to work for pennies like a pay per click thing which I found worthless.

There are hundreds of ways how you can make money from home. Some of them are simple and easy to understand, but don't make so much money, while others are a bit more complicated, but they make you more money. Well first of all you should take note that this is like a real business and you have to be focused on your goals, marketing techniques, product and so on.
Try to do some research on internet marketing, affiliate marketing, google adsense, network marketing, paid surveys, paid through click programs :)

The one thing that I ended up figuring out is that there are no true work from home "jobs."
