Emma M | Does ebay charge for your selling? |
is it only if cars are being sold or does this not apply for clothing etc |

they charge you for every item you list - this can vary, 25p is about the standard though they do have offer days when it is free to list. then they also charge you a final value fee depending on how much your item sells for and then you have paypal charges. isn't really worth it unless you know your item will go for a reasonable amount of money or you have a lot of items to sell |

Ebay charges for everything sold on their site, whether clothing, tickets, services, vintage postcards, houses, or cars
You'll pay
- listing fees when you sell an item, whether it gets a bid or not
- final value fees when your item sells
- optional listing fees such as bold, subtitles, featured listings or whatever options you add
Visit eBay's page on fees http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html |

eBay charges in several ways. And selling on eBay includes some other fees that you need to consider.
1. Listing fees - They charge you to put your item on their site.
2. Selling fees - If you item sells they take a percentage of the money you make.
3. PayPal fees - most payments on eBay come through PayPal, and they also charge a percentage of the amount that the buyer sends you.
4. Shipping fees - When you send the item that you sell to eBay you will have to pay to ship it.
Example; All values in this example are for illustration purposes only and your actual cost may differ.
You place an item that you want to sell for $10.00 on eBay. You state that you will ship it to the buyer for $2.00.
eBay charges you $0.35 to list the item.
eBay charges you $0.15 because the item sold.
PayPal charges you $0.30 for transferring the $12.00 from the buyer to you.
You make $12.00 for your item.
You pay $0.50 in eBay fees.
You pay $0.30 in PayPal fees.
You pay $2. 00 for shipping.
You make $9.80 for your item.

Ebay charge listing fees to sell your goods, these fees vary due to the type of listing you want, for example the first picture of your item is free but any further pictures are, i think about 15 pence. There are extra fees if you want a buy it now or reserve price. There are also fees imposed if you use PayPal as your buyer service, they take a percentage of the winning bid.
If you don't want to pay any fees then wait until an ebay free listing day when anything basic you list, starting at 99 pence is free. |

Yes, eBay charges you a listing fee for everything even if your item doesn't sell. If the item does sell, you'll have to pay eBay even more in commissions. There can be other fees too. Here's eBay's full list of fees:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html
If you don't want to pay fees, sell your stuff on MarketWall UK:
http://marketwall.com/uk
MarketWall is completely free. You can sell your stuff to somebody in your area so you won't have to worry about P&P. |
