I placed an item on ebay which did not sell during the time frame it was available for...a couple of days later someone emailed me to say they would like to buy the item even though the auction period had ended which i have agreed to. Can i still invoice my buyer through ebay or do i now have to do it privately as ebay have now assumed no one has bought the item and therefore has no record of the buyer etc. how do i go about doing it all securely through paypal rather than emails? |

You are now selling outside of EBay, so have no protection. Why don't you just re-list with a BUY IT NOW, for the person who wants to buy ?
You can still sell outside, as long as they have your pay pal details, then no probs - but if its an expensive item, i wouldn't do it (they may claim they have received it etc) |

You need to relist the item and let the other party know, you are not allowed to do private transactions on ebay. |

What you're talking about doing is an off eBay transaction. Neither of you will have any protection if anything goes wrong now. eBay will suspend you if they find out about it.
You're much better off coming to terms with the buyer and then listing as a 1 day auction with one pre-approved buyer, this buyer. Then you can both take advantage of eBay and PayPal's protection policies. |

This has happened to me twice. The auction closed, then I received an email from a customer saying they missed bidding on it and they they wanter to purchase it.
The best way to do this this is relist the item with a Buy It Now option for the original price, then let the buyer know ASAP that you reposted it. Give them the auction item number so they can find it easily, and let them buy it that way. This is a great way to earn loyal, happy customers too! |

hi there, i would relist the item on ebay, with a buy it now option, ant then e-mail the person who wan'ts to buy it to let them know it is back on ebay, that way you won't get done and ebay will have everything recorded, glxx |

To do it through PayPal, I think you would have to relist the item and make it private so that only that person can bid. |

There is no law which says you HAVE to use Ebay at this point. You can sell direct to the individual and deal with them through Ebay.
However, if you use the RELIST feature of Ebay, and add a BUY IT NOW, once the item sells the Listing fee on this second auction is refunded. So all you would be paying for is the Buy It Now (a few cents) and the final value fee. In addition, by using the Ebay system, you have more safeguards in place for assisting you with the sale, such as the invoicing system. |

Just keep in mind this is outside of eBay, so it isn't ensured by them or anything and no feedback can be left. I'd personally relist the item, because people have scammed others this way. |

ebay doesnt like to have sellers sell items to buyer AFTER the auction ends.. cuz they lose money if you do that.
but there is nothing stopping you and the buyer from completing the sell outside ebay. i would suggest that you send the buyer an invoice from paypal, but state that its for "goods-other", because it wont allow the link to the ebay item thru paypal if the auction has ended.
anytime i sell something after an auction ends, i still give the buyer the same expectations as if the auction was won thru ebay.. (ie.. warranty-guarantee.. etc...)

Do it through paypal, send them a money request for the total price agreed, once they pay you send them the item, you both get protection through paypal as long as their address is confirmed.
Don't bother with ebay buy it now because it will just cost you more money in fees. |
