Only take cash not paypal or they can claim the item was never sent and paypal would agree with them and reclaim from you. Get them to bring proof of ID and address and sign for the item. |

Print out two copies of the auction page, and have both the buyer and the seller sign both copies, each take one with them. Or you could draw up a bill of sale like you would if you sold a car. |

You could make out a handwritten receipt. Make sure you have the buyers name, address etc and mark on the receipt, `Sold as seen` Get a signature and make sure you receive payment before handing over the goods. |

It's just a mutual understanding thing. I only accept pre-payment or cash on collection, if they want a printed receipt then they can have one. |

I've done what Callahan suggested if they paid via paypal. I've also done the same with a copy of the ebay invoice - get their signature and provide them with a receipt. |

The easiest, and most certain way would be to have him sign a document stating that you were payed, and he received what he ordered. |

This hinges on payment method - if you've taken cash, then you don't have to prove anything. if you've taken Paypal, then you could be in big trouble.
This is a lesser-known scam/problem with Ebay and Paypal - buyer pays by Paypal and then asks to collect. When they've collected, they submit an 'Item Not Received' dispute. As you dont have proof, as you rightly point out, Paypal find in their favour and they get their money back as well as your item.
Collection in person should only be done by cash payment (or cheque if for some bizarre reason they want to post and wait for it to clear before collecting). Paypal only for postal items and ALWAYS get it sent recorded or special delivery - prrof of posting is no proof of delivery, and Paypal will again find in your buyers favour if they claim not received

good question, i have been using ebay for years and never thought of that. Its the same when you send without recorded delivery, what proof do you have. If you are asking because you are afraid, obviously, check the feedback to see what sort of person you are dealing with, also, if your customer uses paypal they will be covered for purchases they make like a credit card. I have never had any problems with this sort of thing and my score is up around 200 |
