Ebay advice please (again!)?
I'm starting to wish I hadn't chosen to sell on ebay. I'm getting questions I can't find the answer to! Basically I'm selling some car audio equipment that is bulky, very heavy and cost a lot of money new (even though I'm selling for a fraction of the cost) therefore I said the buyer will collect. There's a total of about ten items. A bidder has sent me a question asking if I could send it by courier as they live far away. I don't know what to do! What do you think? How much is a courier for large bulky items? Is it a trustworthy service for expensive items? Help!

HI , We had a car gearbox delivered to us ( we bought it off ebay ) very heavy ! cost us £80 for courier from Kent ( we live in the Northeast of England ) tell the buyer you want payment up front for the delivery by courier . Prices will differ depending on weight but i reckon about £25-30 for audio equipment depending on the distance aswell !

jasmine
Tell the bidder he is welcome to organise his own courier if he wants to bid. Let him do the work.

The Post Office gives a pricing structure on-line... You can quote prices based upon weight, delivery times etc. The Post Office also offers good insurance on packages. I have sent loads of stuff via the PO and across the world. Only one tiny badge ever got lost.

you need to say that the bidder may arrange there own courier if they want goods delivered otherwise collection only
hope this helps

The best way is to modify your description specifying that you will only do collects, not postage, and clearly state what is in the sale and include as many pics as you can. If you can't answer specific questions, say that in your description, something along the lines of " I am selling as is. I do not know anything about audio equipment so , though I will venture to answer your questions to the best of my ability, I do not have any technical knowledge". Just be honest and straight up and, if you're amenable, offer to allow people to inspect the equipment. Just be sure to have someone there when they come by to ensure your own safety! :)

if you go onto royal mail website and put in the approximate weight and dimmensions and the area you are sending it to and it will bring back approximate pricing, x

hey if you said collection only then stick to it. i have collected items on many occasions

Try selling on http://www.ebid2buy.com . You will put more money back in your pocket.

shipping by US post office is the least expensive shipping method.

UPS might be more convenient, but also costs more.... have the buyer pay extra, if this is his chosen method.

Try selling items that are easier to ship.

Advise buyer that you will use courier, but he/she will have to arrange it with one of their choice. They will also have to foot the bill for the courier.
