Ebay boycott. Just cause? Are the sellers and buyers both paticipating?

I'm a seller and a buyer on ebay and the basis of the boycott is because ebay is lowering the listing fees but raising the final fees..(so you're still paying MORE in the end!)

Feedback will be very one sided..the buyer will have full reins to destroy a seller who doesn't ship as quickly as they think the seller should...BUT the SELLER can ONLY leave positive feedback...even IF the buyer ends up being a dead beat!

There will be a freeze on funds through paypal for up to 3 weeks if a buyer isn't happy....(for higher priced items ..ex: $200) so the SELLER can't USE the fees but still has to mail the item out...and the buyer can complain and get their money back....I blog on ebay and alot of sellers aren't happy with the changes... I don't agree with any of the ebay changes...

Ebay is allowing their buyers to leave sellers any kind of feedback they like without fear of getting negative feedback themselves. Bad news. Buyers can be downright terrible.

And ebay charges a lot as it is.

Everyone, buyers and sellers, who feel strongly about the cause are participating.

I am a Power Seller on eBay and have been buying and selling there for nearly eight years. I am, most certainly, participating in the boycott. I understand those who choose not to, have the same rights as I, and respect their decision. Customers who find their way to my store during the boycott will be greeted with the following message.

Welcome to Judy's Corner

Due to the recent policy changes, which we have been assured are intended to draw more customers to this marketplace, but which will, in all likelihood, result in smaller sellers closing up shop and customers being offered less selection at higher prices, I am supporting the members boycotting eBay for the week of February 18-25. I will reopen Judy's Corner on February 26. I apologize for the inconvenience, and hope you understand, I am taking this stand for all members - both buyers and sellers - because I, like most sellers, am both.

Thank you for visiting Judy's Corner and I hope we can do business very soon.

Judy

There are so very many issues with the upcoming eBay changes, and at the root is the failure of eBay to simply consider ALL of her members....not just those precious top 100 sellers. Thank you for an opportunity to express my dissatisfaction as BOTH a BUYER and a SELLER over these new policies....

Spartacus!
I've pretty much given up on Ebay. Been burned too many times, and the automation they've added often causes more problems than it solves.

Do what? I'm not boycotting. Just bought something today :)

I don't think I would boycott Ebay, I save too much money there.

Not enough sellers or buyers know that there will be a boycott so no matter what this is not going to make a difference.

So the answer will be, almost nobody on either side is participating, and of that small percentage, mostly sellers are boycotting.

What's this about an Ebay boycott? Tell me more.

There are over 8,000 sellers on one petition alone. The rate hikes will have to be moved on to the buyers if the sellers are to survive. I quit selling in December, but will not buy from scabs. I'm thinking of selling on www.ecrater.com. It is completely free so I can sell at 40% less (That 40% is how much ebay was getting BEFORE this rate hike!). That means my buyers pay 40% less! And that is what ebay was all about when it started.

Just found out about onlineauction.com; that looks pretty good too. 7,500 ebay defectors so far!

I feel god bless them all for taking a stand :)
Live and let live and I hope they are successful getting their message across.

But unfortunately. I do not think it will make a difference in Ebay's pocket. These changes are going into effect regardless whether we boycott or not.

I am a powerseller on Ebay and I buy and sell and often do not leave feedback in fear of retailation, yet I am A seller too I have been on the other end, being shook down.

I have run into slimebag buyers and refused to be conned and voiced my opionion and got 3 negs over it. I will be seeing more negative feedback along with other sellers due Ebay being a voice for the buyers. Ebay is giving the con artist a free playground and silencing their sellers.

If the strikers got Ebay to acknowledge which they did, ITS A SUCCESS!

Good luck to all of you and god speed :)

I'm not boycotting. I'm not a seller, but I am a buyer. I will buy what I want, when I want.
