how much was the item?
anyway contact the bidder
offer to pay her $10
for her wasted time and effort and let her decide if she wants to relist it or not.
either she will be cool about it or freakout and leave you bad feedback etc.
either way it's not the end of the world just live and learn.
did many other ppl bid on the item? |

You will be reported as a non-paying bidder if you do not pay for the item. I suggest biting the bullet, paying for it, and learning your lesson the hard way. |

you are legally obligated to pay for it and it is your responsibility to make sure you know the shipping and handling costs plus any other terms of buying something on eBay |

You should contact the seller. Maybe he/she will be understanding and will let you go on this one. If not, you will have to pay or get negative feedback. Sorry, those are the rules of the game (or should I say contract in this case). Worse comes to worse, you can resell it on eBay. I know it's probably hassle that you don't want to deal with, but it's the best option you have if the seller demands that you pay. |

there really nothing you can do, it happen to me once and I just didn't pay for it. I told the seller that I didn't realize the cost of high shipping and he just left me a negative feedback after I told him I wouldn't pay. |

By bidding on an auction, you've agreed to its terms. This will all depend on the seller. I'd email the seller and let her/him know that you didn't realize the shipping cost. Some may let you off the hook but some may not. The seller can file a dispute saying both of you have mutual agreed not to complete the transaction. Seller will get his commission back and you won't get a "unpaid" strike. Most sellers though are not very reasonable....so good luck. Be polite and nice when you email the seller, this can go a long way. |

Tell them that you made mistake & if they can relist it. If they say no then you might be stuck w/ it & if you don't pay for it you will get bad feedback. |

You can offer to pay for the relisting fee. you wont really get into trouble but you might end up with negative feedback. you have to have three negative feedbacks in a row for ebay to kick you off the site and then you can always go under a different screename. i shouldnt be telling you this by me being an ebay seller since 04 but its the truth. dont fret too much about it. not too many sellers actually take you to court. and you can explain to them your situation and that you are willing to pay for them to relist their item.
exception. if it is a high priced item like a car or pinball machine or something then they can take you to court and get their money. if its a low end item court costs outweigh the benefits. they can bi*ch and complain and thats about it. |

Contact the seller, explain that you are new to eBay and you didn't realize what the shipping would cost. They can tell you are being honest by looking at your feedback score. I have let people off the hook under similar circumstances. If he agrees, he can report to eBay that he is cancelling the item by mutual agreement. He will get his fees back, and you won't have a strike against your eBay record.
Of course, if he insists that you pay, you should still do it because you did commit to buying his product. And in the long run it is worth it to protect your reputation on eBay.
Good luck. I hope you got a nice seller.

It's kinda a touph situation. I am an expierienced user and your only real option is to contact the seller and simply explain the situation. Most should be fine with that.If not though, you legally must pay it. For next time i'd recomend to look at shipping costs. Also in the item description look to see if you can get a refund if not satisfied with the product.
Good luck! |

You should contact the seller to see if you can work something out. Chances are he or she will be willing to re list the item to avoid negative feedback for herself as well. |

Regardless, you are going to have a "non-paying bidder" listed if you don't pay for it at all. You can try and work something out with the seller but I would recommend just paying for the thing and learning your lesson. There's no easy way out--when you bid you signed a non-objective contract. Good luck. :) |
