People can pay extra to have their listing first and your competition is probably doing that. Is the setting on your computer for ebay to list them by those closest to expiring? That is the default setting, but you can also list by newest listings and if that is the case then everyone else would be seeing your items first, but you wouldn't |

Maybe your sort is based on the listing date. See if you can change it to "ending first", so you can see them in the order everything is ending. Is that what you meant? |

Good answers thus far. Basically where you come up on the list will depend on how your prospective bidder is sorting their listings. So what is important here is not really where you see YOURSELF come up in the listings, but where your prospective BIDDERS are seeing your listing. So you'll need to do a bit of research and give this some thought. Who is your market?
People typically view the listings based on when the auction is about to END, so as to get in a final bid before the competition. Or, less frequently, they'll sort with the newest auctions first, either to see what's just come up so they can keep an eye on it, or to grab it with a Buy It Now option if available.
So, to determine where you want your auction to place, try to schedule it so that it will START and END when most of your target audience will be online.
That will vary with the type of product. Techie types bid at work. Stay-at-home moms and dads maybe in the early afternoon before the kids get home from school. For the "general population" here in the US, closing auction prime-time seems to be either Saturday morning, or Sunday afternoon/evening. |
