Finding the perfect home based business (no scams):?

how does a single mom with very limited funds, find a legitimate home based business? i'm not the type for avon/mary kay because i never wear makeup, and i've tried the parties where you sell stuff but it's not exactly my niche. does anyone know of a home based business that doesn't cost an arm, a leg, and three toes that i can start off with part time and over the course of, say, a year, make enough to do it full time?

My husband and I started our home based business over six years ago. We both wanted to work out of our home and be together raising our children. We didn't want to send them off to a daycare center. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting down daycare providers. They work hard. But I just didn't want the traditional family lifestyle of one or both parents having to work out of the home and really not be a part of our children's life. I didn't want that lifestyle. I wanted to be with my kids. The company we chose made the most since to us. A product that is and always will be in high demand. There are a lot of products and services out there that are good. We decided to partner up with this company because it was things that people will always use and pay for anyway, pretty much no matter what. We didn't have to worry if money became tight that they could easily run to the store and purchase on sale or be able to buy it at the dollar store. So, we got involved in the world's largest direct selling telecommunications service provider that was started back in 1993. It's now a 15 year old, world wide international company. With headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Charlotte, Amsterdam, Sydney and Montreal.
They have been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated them the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it's first five years. They are registered with the BBB as well.
They market in services people use every day and pay for anyway, like I had said. Services like Local and Long Distance telephones, Internet, Digital, video phones, Satellite TV, and all the major cellular phone companies like T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Nextell, Altell etc as well. We save people money and make money at the same time. Every single month these people pay their bills, we make a percentage over and over again each month.
How many people do you know, or know of around the world that uses one or more of these services or products? . A lot of money involved in this industry.
When we started our non profit organization called SOFTIN (www.seafaringopportunities.org) funding is so hard to find with the compeitition involved. Every non profit organization is out there trying to find donors through large corporations. We could make the monthly income to well support our non profit organization based on what we knew and how much we made from our business. So we started a funding program through our business for our non profit as well as other non profits and it's becoming a major funding source for non profit organizations. No competition amongst the non profits, and it helps all types of funding.
Most people who start their home based business do it on the side. I don't suggest you quit your job because there isn't money right off the bat. You can make money fairly quickly, but it takes time to build your business. Most people like I said start theirs on the side and build it up. When their income reaches the level they want, then they are able to quit their jobs. Depending on how hard you work and what you do, would depend on the length of time it would take for you to be able to quit your day job. anywhere from six months to a year is about the average rate.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way nor is there a solve all to your situation and funds. However, there are many opportunities out there for you to create a home based business around your own interests. Finding your niche is the key. There are many great resources out there once you have determined the niche you wish to pursue. My wife and I have created business around our personal interests. I couldn't agree more with one of the earlier posters. you must do your due dilligence before joining one of these companies. If it's not a company and product that you can believe in, do not get involved.

My wife and I are involved with a home based business. Neither of us wanted to sell make up or vitamins or anything else that people could get from Wal-Mart for a 3rd of the cost. We also didn't want to be bothered with the pain of filling our basement and garage with product that we're forced to buy. With that and the low cost in mind we decided to try YTB. So far we love it. We're making some extra money and I plan on quitting my regular job within two years. The support is top notch as is the product and the best thing is, it's not a product that is "like" others only more expensive, it's the same thing that people are already buying at the same or better price at which they're buying it now.

How do you plan on marketing your business? Do you have funds to market your business? Buy brochures, pay for flyers? etc...

Better yet, what are you Willing to do to spread the word about your business?

If you don't have a strong desire to change the quality of your life, no business will work for you.

You have to be willing to step a little outside your comfort zone at first.

Until you answer the question: what are you willing to do for success, you'll just waste a lot of your limited time and money.

Your efforts will be the prime factor whether or not you'll be able to go full time in a year.

Don't believe people's and company's hype!

Hey it looks like you've gotten quite a response from this question. I would suggest you look for something that really interests you-something that you are passionate about.

I started my business a couple years ago. Never thought I would ever have my own business, but I love it!! I love helping teach and train others to do what I do. I have been online marketing for over 1 year full time. The more you spend on a program the more potential income you can make. That is a huge consideration. I do not waste my time with programs under 500.00 because it takes the same effort to make a sale no matter what the cost of the program. Use your time to generate the most cash possible

Stay out of the mainstream, about a bazillion whales are already there with a firm foot in the ground and WILL underbid and outshine you unless you have some serious capital and skill.(dvds,games,electronics,beauty products,music-which people dont really pay for anymore,name brand clothing,etc.. are all claimed land and trespassing is a fools idea)

Find a niche, find something that you think is superior,strange,unique,etc... and no one has caught on to put it on a place like ebay yet. Be the first and hope it pans out. Find a dozen more things like that which pan out and you now have a home business. There is always the service industry too.

Don't btw go for a single work at home program/wholesale list/etc that you see on tv or online. People who have a good source and are so enthusiastic about the business opportunities keep it to themselves. They do not sell it they utilize it. If I knew google was going to hit $700 would I sell it in newsletters for $9.99 or liquidate everything down to my kidneys/take a million dollar loan at 99% apr and buy at 1/3 the price?

and what if i told you that yes, there's a business where it doesn't cost you an arm, a leg, and three toes to start...infact, what if i told you it doesn't cost a dime to get it rolling, would you be interested?
