How much is your Saturday (or whatever) night worth to you?
How much do you need the money?
How easily do you deal w/ kids? How experienced are you?
What resources do you offer? (Is your sister/Friend/mother available for large groups of kids?)
A metropolitan area will have higher rates than a rural area. An area w/ a shortage of babysitters w/ have a higher rate. Do you have a lot of competition in your area, you'll get less?
If you're doing it for the money, but kids get on your nerves.... you need more $$ to make it worth your time.
If you have never dealt w/ children you will not be worth as much, nor able to handle as much, as someone who's been dealing w/ kids since they were very young. (I started babysitting when I was 5 yrs old, w/ my mother's supervision. By the time I was 15 I was very experienced, knew lots of games, could change a diaper on a very squirmy baby, could cook, including making baby food & handle lots of kids at once. I got top dollar) |

The amount you charge I say should vary....lets say for example a doctor or lawyer should be charged more than a single mother or father who does not make alot of money in their proffesion...just my way of thinking |

It depends on the age of the kids and how many there are. The reasonable price would be $3 per child per hour. If there is only one child, $4 per hour. Or you can do a flat rate. I always paid my babysitter $20 for everytime she babysat, and she was only 15. You can also sit down with the parents and see what they think is fair, They might end up paying you more than what you were thinking. Also you don't need to clean their house, just clean up the mess you and the kids made while the parents were gone. |

10 dollars an hour minimum.
If you charge 2-3 dollars per child, you'll get screwed if there is only one or two kids.
To earn 10 dollars an hour babysitting you should know
infant-child CPR.
Do not clean peoples houses while babysitting. You are not a maid and it takes time away from watching the children. |

my sister used to babysit. she charged 5 dollars an hour per child. stick with that, it's not too much and not too less |

if your in there house with there food i would charge minimun wage. now charge accordingly for every additional child. as well if you will help clean around there house then make sure your being payed for it, since your 15 you fall under the minimun wage act so dont price yourself out of a job. smartest move, make an agreement stating how many days a week you work and what you will charge for the "work week" and whats invovled. around south west missouri its about 75 bucks a week for a private baby sitter in her house. just an idea |
