Hey!
I'm new to Ebay as well, but I can help answer some of those questions.
1. Joining Ebay is completely free. As a seller, you'll have to pay some small fees to insert your auctions on the website. These fees generally start at $1 and can go up if you choose to add features that will help advertise your listing and grab potential buyers' attention. There is also a final value fee that Ebay will charge. This fee is a small percentage of the final selling price.
2. PayPal is the most popular way to buy and sell on Ebay because it's safe and fast. It's a must-have if your going to start an Ebay business. To sign up for PayPal, you'll need a username and password. You'll also need to enter your credit card details. This way buyers can credit your account.
3. Shipping prices on trading cards should be a bare minimum. If it's less than a pound, it probably won't be more than a dollar.
4. I use Vendio Gallery to help cross-sell my listings. Vendio Gallery is free to use and can be put at the bottom or top of every listing you post on Ebay. The gallery has pictures of evey item you've posted on Ebay, so when somebody visits your listing, they can see the other things that your selling.
BTW, if your interested, I'm selling a set of porcelain figurines from the 1930's. I've also listed a medieval sword wall plaque. ;-) |

1. go to ebay.com and you can look up the fees under their "HelP" tab in the top right corner - the fees are not cheap
2. go to paypal.com and join as a seller - it is free to join but fees are deducted from each transaction
3. check usps.com for shipping rates
A little helpful tip - you won't make a profit with trading cards on eBay - definitely do a google search for "trading cards online marketplace" for an alternative. You can also list on craigslist.org for free |

Check out http://pages.ebay.com/education/selling.html as it is the step by step intro to selling on eBay. It is very easy once you get going, but you want to start right in order to make the most money.
After reading that, you might want to look for an education specialist for a personal or group class http://www.poweru.net/ebay/student/searchIndex.asp. I was actually one of those trainers and they teach you step by step the very basics and all of the fees to get you up and going. Ebay is good at teaching, since the more you sell, the more often you will come back!
Also, check out http://researcher.mpire.com. It's free, and you have to register, but it will show you all of the SOLD items in the last 30 days and tell you EXACTLY when to list, what to write, and what kind of money to expect.
Good luck and have fun!! |

Yes, there are many fees for selling on Ebay. The best thing to do is go to ebay and read all the policies, instructions and help files. Go to the community boards (found on the top right of the main page) and read, read , read....and ask questons of all the very expereinced ebay sellers and buyers. |

1. Yes there is a fee depending on how much it's selling for.
2. Paypal is easy, you can go to the website to sign up for it. You just need a credit/debit card.
3. Shipping all depends on what kind of packaging you use and how much postage you need. I go to the post office to figure that out and add it to the cost of the item. |

It depends what type of trading cards they are. if ebay feels you need to get them authenticated, which is a pain in the ***, ebay will cancel the bid and your insertion fee will not refunded, so see if it it needs authentication first. ive gone through all of what i just typed, MAKE SURE AHEAD OF TIME.
I sell on ebay all the time
yes, there is a fee to sell on ebay. insertion fee, possible buy it now, and final selling price fee, based on the selling price. for paypal you need a bank account, which makes it easier, or a credit card. when someone sends you money, its posted to your paypal account, paypal takes out a small fee, and you withdrawal the rest and its transfered directly to your bank account.
shipping is up to you, ebay basically just advertising and sales. find out how much the cards and package will weigh, and fill it in to the ebay page. it automatically calculates the shipping if you choose "calculate shipping" instead of a fixed amount. buyer pays for the shipping. But you do all the physical shipping. paypal will provide you with the address to ship to, as well as if you want to buy the postage online. |

There is a fee that you can pay by paypal. It depends on how much your item sells for....you can visit the ebay website and there is a fee table you can look at. You need a credit/debit card to sign up for paypal. You will also need a checking account to become verified (I've used paypal for years and I'm still not sure what verified means...). If you sign up for a premier account on paypal, they will take a percentage of what payments you recieve, and I did this only meaning to sell a few things and I wouldn't recommend doing this if your just gonna sell some cards. When you are paid in paypal, you can tranfer the funds to your bank account or you can leave it in your paypal to pay for things you wanna buy on ebay.
Note that if people do not have funds right in their paypal account and they pay you...it gets transfered from their debit....you may only accept payments from transactions like this if you sign up to be a premier account on paypal. It is free to sign up for paypal (and ebay), but there are fees for sellers.
Shipping a trading card could cost as little as one stamp (42 cents now...or something like that). You should buy some plastic covers to protect them a bit. You may also want to put a "do not bend" sticker on the envelope. You can also buy padded envelopes that are not too expensive to ship. I put ACEOs (art cards) in a flexible plastic sleeve...then I folded some paper around it like a letter and just sent it with a regular stamp. I never had problems with this. You may want to offer insurance for your item and the buyer will pay extra for it.
You should have an Excel sheet to document fees, shipping and your profit.
Hope this helps!!! :) |

Hello,
Great post. The most important part of business is advertising. This makes or breaks a business. Some of the best ways to advertise I've found are:
1. Offline promoting (business cards, flyers, newspaper and other print advertising).
2. Online promoting (buying banner ads, forum posts, email auto replies).
The best method that's worked for me so far is handing out business cards. I don't do this in the usual way.... I buy them in bulk from a place online (they give the cards for free, I just paid shipping and handling...they also give a really nice free business card holder, it looks impressive). They're really high quality. I just put all of the info about my business on the cards, and I hand them out on cars at bus stations, malls, etc. It's worked out really, really well for me, and it's completely inexpensive =)

Good Luck with your business! |
