Start a business where?
In a physical location or on the internet?
I guess people should avoid having bad credit, getting a location in a shitty neighborhood, lax/rude salespeople, selling bad quality product, and gouging prices?
Online, you should avoid ebay. |

If you're going to sell on the internet, don't set your prices too low!
Regardless of the competitions prices.
You need to bare in mind that you'll be charged for listing and for the postage!
If you're on eBay, that's fine because the postage is separate but on Play.com or Amazon.co.uk the postage is included in the whole selling price.. so if you're selling something that is heavy for £1.99 or something, that won't even cover the postage!
If you're selling in a shop, set up somewhere were there's no competition for your product/s what you are selling, for example don't set up near a supermarket because without a doubt they'll be able to beat a small companies prices!
Also, think of something very clever and witty to make the customer remember your shop!
Perhaps you could even do an annual sale, and say once a year on this certain date, everything is half price! It's a great way to reduce your excess stock- if you have any. And it'll also bring customers in and if they like what they see, they'll return.
Make sure you're in a prime location aswell! There's no point in being somewhere that hardly anyone goes to, the shops will be more expensive in a busier area, as expected, but it'll benefit you hugely!
Hope i was some help! |
