i know their is different prices in every pawn shop but around how much should i be expecting. |

1) Many pawn shops are now opting to flog their wares on Ebay. This affords them the ability to get their guitars sold at more competitive prices.
2) You can find electric guitars on Ebay for $50. However this is probably what they are worth, if that. Many are cheap imitation knockoffs that are brought in from China. They sound terrible.
3) If you want to educate yourself about the market, I suggest going to http://www.harmonycentral.com and read what others have to say about certain brands of guitars.
4) If you find a guitar that suits you, you can also check out user submitted videos on http://www.youtube.com
5) There are several 'no-name' brand guitars that people are recommending these days, especially if you just want something to practice on; not something necessarily for live performance on a stage.
See what people are saying about: SX guitars
Perhaps Raven West.
There is also a guitar company that sends you a kit so that you can put your own guitar together from a manufacturer called 'SAGA'. The SAGA kit sells between $80-$100 US.
Look those up on ebay as well as their reviews on
Harmony Central.com
6) A lot of name brand manufactures are bringing out guitar packages which include amplifiers for under $100. The amps
included are usually crap. If you want a good practice amp, be prepared to pay $100.
7) You might also consider buying one of these 'no-name' guitars which over time you can upgrade with better hardware; tuners and pickups etc.
8) Ebay also presents 'User Guides' submitted by customers who tell you how to avoid getting scammed with a counterfeit guitar made in China. If you go to the electric guitar forum on Harmony Central, there is quite an interesting discussion going on regarding these practices, with user advice on how to avoid picking one of these nasty things up.
Even today there are people bidding in the thousands of dollars for what they think are legitimate Les Paul and Fender guitars when in fact they are sneakily constructed imposters made for next to nothing. |

I have looked in windows of pawn shop here in Seattle and it seems the pawn shops charge TOO MUCH for everything.
Considering most of it was stolen in the first place and the pawn shops paid as little as ten cents on the dollar.
Better off looking in the Newspaper or if there is one of those little flea market papers like the LIttle Nickel that we have in Seattle area.....
http://www.littlenickel.com/
those would be better places to look.
You will get a better deal.
And you won't be contributing to area crime. |

It depends on the brand.
I'm pretty sure they're cheaper then an acoustic guitar, acoustic guitars always have high prices.
You might get one for under $200 dollars. |

You should be able to pick up a cheap one for under $50. |

OK here were I live everything in the pawn shops I have priced there and in retail stores and the difference is 50 to 60 bucks (not good).Like I was looking at this computer and they were asking 400. at future shop same specs 459 go figure eh.
Your best bet would to maybe search places like kijiji.com or your local newspaper for a private sales. |

That depends on the brand and condition. If you don't mind it looking a little used and not being a name brand, you could probably find one for around $50. If you are looking for a fender or gibson or something like that, it may be more in the neighborhood of $150-$200. |
