Nah, don't pull a sicky. No good not to be honest about it. You'll enjoy your vacation more, seeing and remembering what all the hard work has paid off for. It's the right thing to do!!! Have a great holiday!!! ;) |

You'll feel guilty if you pull a sickie, you'll enjoy your holiday much more if you know you've been honest! |

I agree. Go to work, otherwise everyone will talk about you.
Left face it, nobody will believe your ill.. |

Since you work for yourself, I guess you have to weigh up the pros and cons. Do your customers know you're going on holiday? If they do, then pulling a sickie will be obviously false - will that irritate your customers? Will there be a lessening of goodwill? Will there be a long term effect - ie losing the work?
On balance, I'd just do the work. If you're clients know you're going on holiday then they will appreciate you doing the work. That can only be positive! |

Depend how much you value your clients. You could probably still do it with a clear concience by phoning them and cancelling. |

Don't pull a sicky - ring up and say that you are having a mare, and would they mind if you re-arranged! You don't want to find all your clients found someone else by time you get back!!
But have a fabulous holiday!!!! |

No, go in, sort out as much as you can then leave early. You will feel better for it and feel like you really deserve the holiday you are going on. Relax and have a great holiday! |

It might depend on if you pay yourself sick pay, you might not be able to afford it otherwise :P |

Going on the basis of keeping good karma, I personally wouldn't pull a sickie ... it looks bad on your business if you pull out at such short notice, and if your clients guess what you're up to they won't be so keen to give you the job again! |

For your own good- you must work tomorrow-People are paying you as a company to provide a service- you may feel good for two weeks but when you come back you may have lost some business.. There will be a knock on affect as you will get a bad reputation and it will follow you around.
Do the right thing and the enjoy your holiday-
I would also highly recommend you send all your clients a post card- You will gain in the long run and feel good. |

hey Hun, id say work but when you get to each house just explain that you didn't want to leave them in the lurch so you have come in but you don't really have time to do all the 'usual' jobs so what really needs to be done and they might just say can you wash up or whatever and be fine about you going home early ready for hols even if it means a Lil white lie that you are leaving earlier than you actually are is better than calling in sick and having customers leave due to the fact they knew you were lying the whole time about being ill.
Hope you have a WICKED time and don't forget to send me a Lil pressie, ill mail my address later.lol |

No... It's way too obvious. Your workers will not thank you, and you clients will not know unless it affects thier cleaning. Ask if you can "get away a bit handy" and let them cover you, then do them a favour when you get back if they need an hour off and they will probably cover you to go home early without getting the bum about it, everyones a winner. |

Only if you are one of "those" types of people... if you are a productive employee and a motivated person then go to work and then enjoy your vacation guilt free.... |

what if you lose your clients...dont you value their custom...thanks to them you can go on holiday...enough said !! |

I do worry that half the people who answered didn't even read the whole question!
Ask yourself- How many clients are you letting down and what the repercussions for your business could be..will they go else where, etc. |
|

what?
|
Then it is your choice-if you don't go and you have no cover you client may well turn their back on you-I would, if this doesn't matter to you then don't go, but you could always ring them and tell them why then they would appreciate the honesty at least.
Either way enjoy your holiday. |

Now i was going to say phone the office and say 'I've just looked in diary, and i can see that i have amigraine booked today, so i won't be in'
But, you are the boss, sooooo
Think of it as extra spends, and who's to say that your clients won't leave a little extra for your holiday, my houses used too! |

I own my own company too and would never dream of letting anybody down, especially if I had a holiday to look forward to. This would also apply if I was working for somebody else.I'm glad I'm not one of your clients |
