Honestly I think you are playing with fire here. There are so many sketchy opprotunities for "work from home" or internet based work.

Believe me, when I was looking for extra cash in the UK, there were plenty of ads in newspapers, or on the internet, for work from home/internet.

When I looked in to them further though, they all had clauses, like you have to give them money to "start up" the business. Think about it...how many normal, above board business opportunities involve you giving an employer money? They may sound like franchises, but seriously, do not hand over money. Do as much research as possible.

Only thing i can think of is something like Kleeneze/Betterware, etc, where you deliver home-order catalogues and are paid on a commission basis.

Please be careful, do not jump in to anything, research, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Writing articles for eHow has been pretty good for me in obtaining residual income. It doesn't cost you a thing, and each month you get a statement of earnings. It's not a ton of money, but it's something. If you watch the news or read the paper, write an article on something that people may be researching at the moment. Write about subjects you know about. How to mow grass, how to lose 10 pounds, how to get a six-pack, etc.

For instance, Halloween is coming up. You could write an article on how to make a Sarah Palin costume or something...

What you should do first is to decide if you are simply looking for an hourly rate type job or if you are looking for more of an opportunity for additional income such as what you would make in your own business being your own boss from home. Small home businesses have some small costs involved, less than $500 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting $1000-$5000. It doesn’t cost that much to start and run a home business so you shouldn’t pay it.

If you are coming across places that say free then I would RUN don’t walk the other way! They never are. I tried them many a times and 3 weeks later I had to buy this and 6 weeks later that. After 6 months these “free businesses” had cost me over $800 on average.

Look for companies with a needed product or service, something you would be proud to represent. Look for companies that have a national reputation and are members of the US Chamber of Commerce.

As for those of you who say…..”I want to work from home but I don’t want to have to pay for anything”. Well, that’s great! But it will never happen. Let’s be honest, there is no such thing as a free lunch. If it is a true honest home business you need to expect to pay. Mr. Walt Disney didn’t start the Disney empire “without paying for anything”. Neither did Mr. Sam Walton, owner of Wal-Mart.

I'll fill you in on a business that needs no money to invest and pays well once a lttle work has been done. I started a business myself. Flyer delivery for small businesses. I mean places like Bob's pizza or Ashley's hair salon. These small guys need to advertise with flyers. They dont have the money for tv. Heres where i get your attention. You offer to deliver Bob's pizza flyers for 5 cents a flyer door to door. Find three more little guys and you have 20 cents a house. Now you can put up your own flyers offering a job that pays $14 per hour. Paying your deliver 10 cents and keeping the other ten cents. FOr every 500 flyers they deliver the pay is $50 dollars for them and $50 for you. Dont stop here!! Get four flyers from small guys in different towns and hire people in these areas. With only one person delivering four flyers/20 cents, five days a week, makes you $250 a week. Four flyers in another town is another $250, and so on for as many flyers you secure.
