i was thinking about putting forward a proposal in my school to get recording equipment in and have like a mini recording studio!young people (such as people in my school) are now forming bands together and a lot have real potential!would it be a good idea to ask our school to do this, its just these bands could really benefit from this as we have a market day in the school each year but this could be increased to several times a year, and we could sell copies of their cd's etc.!!
and from my point of view this could als actually turn out to be a small business!
i need your opinion on this!?

when u go to supermarket, collect computers for schools vouchers, they can be transferred for musical equipment, like mics guitars, lots of stuff, also, it would be a good idea to get all the music students and the bands to sign a petition, and if u all work together and make a proposal, ask your headteacher and other members of staff to attend an assemble, maybe after school, where u can put forward ur proposal for equipment. point out your strategies and point out how it could help the school benefit in lessons, etc and can help troubled kids and naughty kids release some tension, and anger and maybe calm down and focus on schoolwork, and tell him it won't affect your other studies, etc, u get my drift |

It is a good idea. The "small business" part won't be legal. You can't run a private business on tax payer property. 100% of profit would have to go to the school.
You need to include in your proposal just where the school will get the money to pay for this, and that will take some research. There is likely grants available. |

Whenever you plan any activity on campus, always think of ways to share a part of your earnings with the School or college.This will only add to your income, because those wanting to support the school/college and you both, will find it possible to do so in one stroke.
The idea is very good,but you can apply a little more thought to the details. |

Sounds like an excellent idea. Put together a proposal to show how you would expect this scheme to work. Maybe offer to fund-raise some of the cash if the school agrees to fund part of it. List how it would work, how it would be run and maintained, who could use it, what for and when.
Demonstrate you've thought about this clearly and stress the benefits to the school (excellent facilities attract a bigger choice of students and good students = good reputation and
cash!) Increased morale of students etc etc
Have a think about what the school may consider to be the disadvantages of this scheme and try to come up with answers/solutions so they see this is not a whim but something you've considered and are prepared to commit to and work hard for.
As for the negative answers above - don't be put off because some bands don't make it - some do and there's nothing wrong with having dreams.
And you obviously won't be after a full studio - just start with the basic equipment which you know is going to be expensive hence offering to fund raise!
As for skills for life - this proposal involves planning, negotiating, financial management, time management and people skills - all things you'll benefit from whatever you do after leaving school. This will all look good on a college application.

do you have any idea how much a recording studio costs?
There is no way a school could fund it.
Plus you should be learning the basics in school to earn a living later on. It must be much less than 1% of bands formed ever make a living from it.
