Why dont you start a business in dealing with problems associated with being in a wheel chair , im a plasterer and have worked for a few companies who supposedly specialise in less abled adaptations however problems do arise because the physical restarints of rooms ,access are not always apparent unless you are physically using a wheel chair day in and out.
Hope this helps.

Big Issue this... There's one answer. Why not become an organisation that confirms that disabled facilities are being properly adhered to by developers and facilitators for events ect. The councils pay alot for this but have to manage it themselves

IT would be great if you know about those things, especially web design as there is good money in that. Alternatively, if you are into sport, then how about setting up a disabled sports business or a support group, there are more and more disabled people nowadays that would like to be involved in normal things. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Well, the key to a sucessful business is to do something you are good at, enjoy. Then there needs to be a market for it.

first the idea, then the business.

Being in a wheelchair is a strength. you know the real access issues people like yourself face. so why not use that fact ?

Perhaps you could advise small businesses on access issues for disabilty act legislation ? bit of a cliche I know.

Places like shops, B&Bs, tourist attractions ?

you'd need to be able to drive and visit them, is that ok for you ? then you'd need to be able to write reports and understand the legislation

We run a B&B and its a minefield trying to understand what we are to do. We'd pay £50-£100 for a visit.

personalyl, i'd steer clear of computer jobs. I often have to sit in front of a PC ( like now ) listening to conference calls, chasing money ( etc ) drives me mad. I'd much rather be outside.

someting on computers or working from home i.e. doing webdesgin from home etc or selling things online! maybe even designer! a friend of mine deisgns kitchens and sells them to ppl like mfi andwickes etc and he works from home! but the best part is he cna deisgn like 3 kitchens a day and mfi and wickes and another company will ltake on all his work between them so techniqually its like he is wokring for three companies at once! as mfi wickes etc employ him to design but as he is dedicated and wroks hard he can have a larg enumber of employers and he eanrs about £70,000 a year from each! (but he works 60 hrs a week for that somestimes more) and he only has to go to meetsing every know and then very convinent for someone in wheel chair!
