Has anybody worked with Avon before?
I have a visit from an Avon rep tomorrow to sort out some territory and stuff for me. she said i have about 200 houses in my territory. i was planned on doing about 6 hours a week.

Is working with avon worthwhile? How much can u earn?

I am not sure about the commission rate with Avon. But the territory thing could be problematic. Doesn't leave any opportunity for growth. BeautiControl is an awesome opportunity. We do not have territories so you can go anywhere. We have the most amazing products on the market that are made to compete with dermatologists not cosmetic companies. If it not the absolute best out there our research team will not market it to the public.
We have a very lucritive compensation plan real chances to earn trips at least 3 times a year. They give their consultant Ford Mustangs to drive (yours to keep, your name is on the title) plus you can earn jewelry and cash bonuses.
Along with the products we offer Spa Escapes in the privacy of the homes of our clients. We teach how to destress and how to create the spa experience in their bathroom with our products. (of course)
I do this part-time and make more with BeautiControl than I do with my full time teaching position with a Master's Degree.
I would be happy to help you and to answer any questions you may have. You can contact me directly mcarterspas@yahoo.com and check out my website www.beautipage.com/melissacarter
Look forward to talking to you.

I have not worked with Avon, and do not know how saturated it is in your area. Have you ever heard of Arbonne International? It is coming to the UK in November of 2007. The company offers a fabulous pay plan, as well as Mercedes Benz cash bonus program. I would be more than happy to send you some information about this. Please feel free to email me.

I once tried it, was a lot of hassle for very little out come. I have a friend who does it now and she only just makes enough to get her own shower gels etc. Up to you, what you want out of it really. It wont ever make you rich, you will just be making money for others in higher positions than yourself.

I think it's rewarding IF there are not a lot of reps in the area.
The people with the most success with this sort of work are one and only around - or build up a solid team. The best idea is to be the first to launch a product in your area too -
it's a great idea to work the hours you can - if you enjoy the product that is the best - too.

I too got fed up. It is a lot of income out of pocket if you really want to promote yourself. Then you have to drive all over your town for deliveries, catch people, collect their money. Sometimes get stuck with inventory and then a place to store it. I think the sales tax is expensive. All in all I like their products and would by it myself but by the time your figure in S&H and and tax I could have bought it at Wal Mart on the high end.

I personally don't know enough about Avon to comment however my Mary Kay director sold it for years and didn't make much money with Mary Kay she was able to quit her full time job and is driving a free car.
It really depends on you do you love Avon products and believe in the company? I only started selling Mary Kay for the product discount you get 50% we buy for wholesale ($1.00) and sell for retail($2.00)
I love what i do and only work about 10 hours a week and last year I did over 20,000 in sales. Mary Kay has less items and people that use the product reorder it is more about building relationships and providing a service with no territories and don't let anyone tell you you need inventory that is optional.

I did Avon a long time ago.

Although your Avon rep says you have a territory, it is not a dedicated territory and you will have to work hard to get people to order from you.

The logistics of Avon as a business are:
1. You buy the catalogues - new catalogues come out every 3 weeks or so.
2. You drop the catalagues with order forms through people's letterboxes, indicating when you will be back.
3. Then you go back and start knocking on doors (of strangers)
4. If they place an order, you are lucky. Sometimes they want you to help them place an order. An order can be as low as £1. Sometimes, you find your catalogues have been thrown away.
5. You get home, start completing your Avon order form to send out to Avon.
6. You go to Avon collection point and drop off your order.
7. Avon then delivers your order to you.
8. Avon charges you for everything that you ordered.
9. You sort out every customer's order, packs it for them, ensure you have a copy of their order form.
10. You now go to everyone's house delivering orders and collecting payment.
11. If they are not there when you called, you have to go back again to deliver the order and collect payment.
12. If they don't have the money on the day you called, you have to go back and get the money.
13. If they no longer want the order, you have to take it back and return to Avon, who will then refund your money.
14. Then you start Steps 1 to 13 all over again. You go through this every 3 week. Avon has about 18 sales catalogue cycles every year.

Whatever percentage you get, because the orders are so small, the commissions are small. And the effort you put in is so big.

May be worth looking around for other opportunities.
Have a look at some ideas at
http://www.business-in-barnet.com/work-from-home.html

However, the final decision is yours.

Hope that helps.

I got fed up doing it as sometimes i would find my area had been poached by someone else also the meetins thay ask you to attend are as boring as hell. You could inly earn good money at this if you were commited enough. 6 hours a week would only get you pocket money.

I haven't but was thinking about it. My friend did it and said she earned about £200 the first distribution, but that it declined after that. She also said that you get abuse from some people that you knock for, and that people let you down with paying etc.

It's a risky business, but if you're prepared for the pitfalls, I'd say give it a go. If, after a couple of distributions the interest lags and you can't be bothered trapsing round houses any more, then knock it on the head. You're not tied in, so you've got nothing to lose.

i was working for avon and was given about 6 streets. but all around an area where another rep lived and the people interested in avon bought of her. i reported it and was told she should tell all her neighbours to buy off me. but that never happened. i was given more streets and only had one or two orders a month (earning about £2-3). some people still buy off a rep they used to have or from a rep that works with them or friends that do it. it's very difficult to find new clients. also a lot of people are rude or threw brochures away (that u as a rep is paying for). i put in so many hours and nothing came out of it. for a while i was my best client and just gave up in the end.

I think its a lot of hassle but quite good money. My mate used to do it but she found people were getting sick cos brochures were coming out too often, might be an idea to split your patch and do every other brochure if you see what I mean. You get good offers on end of lines etc.

you can earn loads, depending on how much you put in, the more time youspend with people them more you will earn, I was earning and I only had 5 people I sold to (weird situation) but it's good fun and the discounts are good!
