i teach this as a class;
1 hone your descriptive skills, be honest, and always show damaged bits (chips scratches etc)
2 take excellent photographs
3 keep teh description short.. less than half a page of a4, (folks get bored easily)
4 always start the auction at 1 pound or dollar, and let them fight over it
5 answer all questions quickly and honestly
6 always be honest, and dont rip them off on the postage.
7 always advertise it worldwide. (daughter sold some wrestlers, WWF stuff. 5 went to australia, 5 went to holland and the other 5 went to a guy 3 miles up the road...) |

You have to do your research first and find out what people are buying. Then you try and buy wholesale and sell singley at a profit.
Me and my partner have made quite alot of money on ebay! |

I have sold lots of things on ebay and do it quite well. Here are some of my tips:
1.Don't sell things during the summer less people use ebay.
2.Start with a low price and attract buyers. If it is an expensive item put a reserve on it.
3.Research the item u are selling see if its selling. Check the sellers postage and starting prices and try to beat it.
4.Look at titles for the the items u are selling and see whichare most effective and use their keywords.
I can't think of anymore tips but if I do I'll add them to this over the next couple of days for you. |

Sold loads of stuff.
Just set a price your willing to part with it for, ebay tends to under value alot of items. So they go cheap.
If the items are just collecting dust at home sell them for anything, it's no use having stuff you'll never use. |

I have sold a few things.
Tip: make your ad clear, and ensure your spellings are correct. |

Yes I have.
You are either selling junk, or items that nobody wants or asking too much money. |

don't post anything to sell until you have watched something the same being sold , if it doesn't sell they yours wont.
wait for the special posting dates a good one is when the gallery photos are free. or a 5p posting day .
take good photos.
and be careful to get the postage right. too little and you lose out, too much and people will think you are dishonest .
good luck. |

I haven't bought or sold anything on Ebay but I know some people who had sold electronic gadgets successfully and made some money. One of them bought things cheaply while on holiday in Asia and sold them on Ebay. The other one got someone in Hong Kong who would buy the things and post them to buyers from there after he got orders. |

From my ebay experience, people usually won't bid on items from somebody new or has low feedback. Try and buy some small things to build up your feedback and see how it goes. I tried to sell my wedding dress when i started out - i was unsuccessful until my feedback was over 100. Good luck! :) |

It depends on what your selling. People are mostly looking for cheap stuff on ebay |

I've sold many things on ebay. Maybe you're listing your items too high. |

. . . I once sold Bulgaria but "Police Girl" (my pet stalker) made me give it back - couldn't cope with the costume changes, one minute it's the black hot-pants then the builders jeans. |

I have sold hundreds of things. I actually make a regular income from eBay. You really cant just learn how to ... it takes lots of mistakes and learning.
Also apart from the regular things like honesty, explanations etc. Every item has its unique selling methods, theres no hard and fast rule anywhere there.
But then, you cna buzz me and I'll see if I can help you out. |

I sell stuff all the time! Art, junk, old journals, and just plain trash!
Read the materials that E-bay supplies to sellers amd really learn how it all works. List a few items everyday. Learn from your mistakes. Treating you E-bay Feedbacks like GOD! Always make sure your customers are happy...a few bad feedbacks and you are done as a seller!
Good luck! |

People always seem willing to pay more if you start your price low.. I think people like bidding against each other so dont overprice your stuff!
I sold my old TV for £75 ...couldn't believe it!!and have sold all sorts of other stuff as well including a tiny little cat that my mum was going to throw away..it turned out to be Hornsea pottery and I got nearly £30 (and it was tiny!) |

What are you selling? The best advise I can offer is whatever you are selling try to get as many pictures of items as possible |
|

The best way is too 'compare' your items as to what's already being sold if theirs lots of the same put it on a buy it know at a cheaper price. Make sure your listing is well-worded with no spelling mistakes, it really is a game of trial and error. |

dont overprice.. pictures work best and dont ask for too high a postage fee |

Firstly make sure the item title is explicit. "China Cat" is rather poor when it could be described as "1970's Hornsea China Cat Limited Edition", for example. The description should be accurate and list its most redeeming features. This attracts the collectors.
Secondly take some decent pictures and use the gallery option. When users are browsing the listings they will take note of items they are interested in.
Finally do not make your starting price too high. Make sure your postage costs are covered and start at the lowest possible price you are prepared to accept. The auction will generally find its true value. |
