Research it thoroughly....supply and demand and location are the two most important factors........also check out the competition and their proximity to you........test it in a small way first and expand only if the £££$$$ is passing the outgoing. ! All biz, like life is a gamble....no guarantees.....! |

Do a business that you enjoy because you are more likely to succeed in that sector. I also got a bit of success story for that reason. I started a businessa few months ago saving people money on gas, elec, home phone and internet tarrifs among other services. Things that they use every day. I now get paid 5% of their spend montly. Just about 100 customers get you about £500 - £750 residual income paid monthly forever. But then we also do business customers who spend more. Good luck in your business search

I think I made the right choice.
I asked a question on here about a business opportunity and received some excellent replies. I've decided to take up the offer.
Unlike network marketing where i buy catalogues and samples etc and then sell for a minimal profit this is a real business.
I made a £500 bond which gives me an immediate credit limit from the supplier of £1000.
There is a full web catalogue for my customers to order from but before they can they must register using a unique id that i give them. In future all purchases they make pays a commission to me. Anyone they introduce to the site using my id also pays me. I can offer incentives and special offers and i can sell on the net, direct to other organisations like gyms and health clubs, at home parties or retail through my shop.
The company doesn't steal new business on the site and anyone registering is given a generated id.This generated id is sent to the nearest distributor to make contact. They can't buy immediately but if they do after I contact them then they are allocated to my account.
Some of the products have 100% mark up and my only commitment is to use supplier. The range is new but will be branded, all the advertising, marketing, web and telephone support is done for me.
It's a fantastic idea like a cross between Avon and Ann Summers for men.
It's mainly a range of grooming products with a hint of naughtiness in the catalogue.
It's only UK based at the minute but if you or anyone else interested let me know. |

I currently own two limited companies and have other business interests. One of the best sources of help that we've found is Business Link. They're great for helping you when you're thinking of starting up - get on one of their free one day workshops - and they're also there for you as you grow. We recently did a business review with them on one of our companies and the outside perspective was very helpful.
What sort of advice do you need? What sort of business are you thinking about setting up? In general terms, I'd say put together a plan for what you want to do. It helps set out what you want to do, how you're going to do it, who your ideal customers are and how you'll reach them.
Possibly the most important part of that plan is your marketing strategy. If people don't know how to find you and what you do, you don't have a business.
Running your own business has its ups and downs but with careful planning, monitoring your progress regularly and being flexible when things need to change, you can have something that is very rewarding.
Good luck! |

What type of business are you thinking about?
Thats where you should start. Brick and mortar or online?
With website or without? Read read and read especially free info if you are trying to make decisions about what to do. Me I'll release my 2nd book and sell it online this summer. |

2 years ago I set up a business selling maternity clothes online (www.wondermummy.com). We've gone from selling other people's styles 2 years ago, to now manufacturing our own label, and selling wholesale as well as retail.
Business Link are very good.
Research as much as possible. I spent months researching the market, making sure there was a business in what I wanted to do, (v. v. important), thinking about marketing, how to operationalise ideas etc.
Don't forget to register your business with companies house, and also any domain names you might want. You don't want a great name that someone else has already got.
Good luck!!
Talk to anyone you can about your ideas - its great to soak up as much advice and info as possible. |
