No you should not be worried. BBB does not update their list of all the business out there. Only when there is a complaint is made or the company is a medium to big size company then they will put it into their database. |

Well,
giving you unpaid days off of work isn't shady, it could just mean your
manager doesn't have the money to pay for any more work hours. I
mean, I wouldn't like it, but it's probably more responsible than having
you work, and the business going under because they can't meet
expenses.
Now, if there are other issues, that's a seperate subject.
I would definitely switch jobs if you're uncomfortable at all. |

Not always some businesses are just small and dont register with the BBB, but if you feel uncomfortable by all means find new work. |

It could be just that the biz is so small it isn't recognized yet. As for the unpaid days off? I don't know. You might want to consult with a workplace lawyer. |

it is not unusual for some company to give employees unpaid days off. i.e. mom and pop stores, security companies, fast food. |

Companies can do that to you. Bigger companies can afford to pay more time off then smaller companies. Like alot of smaller companies will pay for Thanksgiving but will be closed the day after with no pay. But to loo up that information you wouldnt want the BB you would want to check with OSHA. |

Is he forcing you to take time off without pay? That isn't shady, that's a cash flow problem. If he isn't making money, why would he want the expense of paying you.
If you are asking for time off, he isn't required to offer paid vacation time.
And, since it seems to be a big confusion, if you are on salary, you still have to show up for work to get paid. You just don't track the hours and get paid overtime. |

the BBB is a MEMBERS ONLY operation. not every company is a member. |

If you are willing to pay $19.95 you can reserch them online. Im not sure how reliable the free sources are, and thats just one option for you.
Giving you unpaid days off doesnt necesarily mean tha company is shady. Perhaps they are underfunded or having financial troubles like many nowadays.
How about just asking them why? |

If you are truly worried go to town hall or tell the police department and say you are potentially whistle blowing. |
