Hi Missy,
Well I know your situation, but are you creative and artistic? If so, you can design flyers and sell them. Find out about certain events in your neighborhood and see if you can design the flyers. It's the summertime so you know there will be lots of parties going on. If that doesn't work you could sell candy, start off with snicker and twix.When you see that they sell, move to other candy bars. Sell them for 1dollar a piece. With summer coming, offer to water plants, feed the cat (or fish), take in the mail for people on vacation. You could also try dog walking. My daughter designed and printed a flyer, then hand-delivered them around the neighborhood. |

Well, hopefully your mom has some ideas on how to save, because there aren't a lot of options for making money these days...You could always try to collect aluminum cans. I know a Mexican couple that sent two kids to college, just by collecting cans! However, they spent day and night doing that so it might not be a practical idea... |

Two ideas. You & your mom go thru your belongings and hold a yard sale. I earned a quick $85.00 one Saturday just by selling some of the toys my kids didn't play with anymore. Also, anything that you can take to a cash & carry childrens consignment store. I have sold strollers, toys & clothing. Lastly, in your neighborhood you can do other things than just mow lawns. You can help elderly neighbors plant flowers, pick weeds, odd jobs around the house. If you live in a pretty good area, your neighbors will help a kid out if they know they are working toward a goal. Mine did. |

Recycle always nets you $. Not just cans and bottles, think everything, paper, plastic, metal, glass, etc...
How about the people in your neighborhood who go on vacation, you watch their house, pick up their mail, feed their pets, etc... You could pull weeds also, my son is 6 and does a great job at it. |

I second the mother's helper idea. You may also be asked to do light housekeeping as part of the job. Another idea is dog walker. I would suggest smaller breeds since you are small. |

Honey, first find out how much it costs for the tickets - that's your objective.
Then start saving up - it shoudln't be too hard to squirrel away part of your weekly allowance to accumulate the money you need for the tickets. Divide the amount into the number weeks until you want to go and you'll get how much you need to save up each week.
You could also do things like a garage sale, selling chocolates (school or girlscouts programs) - be creative!

Clean out the garage, the closets, the attic. Anywhere stuff you no longer use is stashed away. Then get on that ebay site and start selling! You have good spelling and computer skills, ebay is easy to use, you can do it from at any age and people will buy anything on that site! Come up with something really crazy like your cat's hairball for sale for 2 tickets to New York, you'll be amazed at what you'll get. It's an easy way to try and make some money and won't cost you much at all. You may need to use you Mom's credit card to register however. Good luck, you'll make it. Collect aluminum cans, too! They are worth a lot these days! |

If you have two years to achieve your goal, you could consider taking what you earn or save (the suggestions presented here before) and invest the money. Use the internet to find investment opportunities. In two years you might have much more than just the amount needed to travel to New York! |
