Sorry bud but it has been done before, but it is a good idea, get some flyer's printed and post them round your area, then when you have established yourself you can become more versatile, you can go round to certain area's on different evening's with a collection of assorted DVDs and let people see what you have, that way you can promote your business better, by seeing other DVDs if you don't have the one they want, they can be tempted by the others in your collection, remember this! good business is "push push push", I wish you all the best in your quest, and I hope my input has been of some help. |

When you consider the cost of gas, insurance, maintenance, car payments, etc - it is highly unlikely you will undercut the shops. Also, if anything happens to you you will have to pay someone else to deliver the movies for you. You will need a business license and probably insurance also. Also, video rental stores purchase new first run movies for pennies on the dollar - to the tune of about $1 a disk.
I don't kinow what is happening in the UK, but in the states companies like netflix.com and blockbuster.com are starting to put the shops out of business. You can order the movies online, they arrive in your mailbox the next day, you keep them as long as you want all for a flat monthly fee. I pay $19.95 US for 25 movies a month or so. |

I used to love our viseo guy when i was little. He would drive down our road and play a tune like the ice cream van and then we would pick our films. he would return the following week and we would choose new ones. We used to queue up for ages and all rushed to get the new titles. The guy did this because we lived in Rural east Sussex and there were no shops nearby. Sadly the film industry has changed due to cheap DVD's, Internet viewings & Sky movies :(
It could still be a good idea depending on the area BUT be advised you would still need to buy a special rental copy (About 3 times the price of an ordinary DVD) otherwise you could be caught and jailed. Harsh I know but you only need one person to report and you can be done for copyright theft!

I wouldn't use it because I can already order dvds online. I have a subcription to an online dvd rental service - I order as many dvd's as I want, keep them for as long as I want and then return them for free. I get them delivered next day to my door. And I don't have to deal with some Del Boy on my doorstep. Sorry, crap idea.
Just google DVD rental, you'll see just how late you are. |
