Depending on the type of business. A Good amount to start is an amount that can last you at least 3 years in operations.
As sometime the market need to get to know you before they want to do business with you, it is good to set aside at least 3 years operational budget. |

Depends on the business. I've started a couple. One took me ~$300 another took me ~$25. It all depends on what you need for the business. I run a computer consulting company from my home. Not much startup costs there. If you want to start a retail store, you're looking at some serious capital outlay. |
