if it is your business then what ever you want
just remember: too much money will drive prospective customers away, too little will mean you will probably be swamped by parents wishing to nip off for a few hours.
You will need things dependent on the child age i.e babies: nappies food and milk, most parents will probably supply you with any additional items. |

First, proper English. The language in your question is very unprofessional, far past being unorthodox. Babysitting should be an easy startup, as you can spread quickly by word of mouth and doing everything you can to be the best. When spreading the word, don't undersell, but don't oversell either. If the average wage is $8.00/hour, ask for 9. And when asked how you are, say that you try as hard as you can to do your best and always try to please the families who hire you, some people are not satisfied. Tell people that you take full responsibility for this, but do not go to far. Don't be celebrating your 20th unhappy client. Also, do not oversell, do not say that you are the best. Also, don't ask to bring friends. Dress in a corporate-casual style. Actually get involved with the children, befriend them. By doing this, they will start talking to their parents about how good a time they had. This will do two things, first it will encourage the parents to go out again, and hire you again. The second thing is, it'll encourage them to mention you, and brag about you, to other couples searching for a sitter. Create business cards as well, and buy a pay-as-you-go or throw-away cell phone as a dedicated line, listed on your card. This way you will not get your business mixed up with your personal life, while keeping costs down by not having a contract. This might seem minor, but the outgoing message on a personal phone can sometimes turn people away, and having a strictly professional message on a personal phone can poorly affect your social life.
Good luck, and when you make a mistake, write it down in a notebook, this way you can learn from your mistakes. |
