Stock the pond, and have fishing rodeos.
Lease the other land for livestock, but you'll have to fence it off with barbwire, or electric.
If the near term cost can be justified, or written off as a business expense, you might be able to realize a profit in the third year.
You could fence it off, and raise free range chickens, from which you can sell organic eggs, and fryers. Hook up with local farmers, and talk to them.
You can lease the land to someone who already does this.

It depends on where your 15 acres is located. I live in the central coast area of California ... grape vines do well here, as do cattle. A little further north, in California, you could grow strawberries, artichokes, lettuce, spinach. You could board some horses, in my area people will pay $100/month just for a place to keep a horse.
Or, you could always just enjoy the fact that you are fortunate to have some space and privacy surrounding you ... a peaceful place to call home, a place to relax in a small boat where you can fish (& swim?) w/o leaving home :-) A place to be alone, or with friends ... a place to garden, or grow your own food. |

How about a storage company? I have a friend who did that, he started out with a row of storage sheds, with garage doors on them, and then he branched out to RV storage....Wow!! He is making money hand over fist now! You have to secure the compound, but it's well worth it in the end. |

Rent the land to farmers, Have a pumpkin patch with hay rides for the kids. Build barns and rent stalls for horses lots of things. Have fun and make some money doing it |

Start a "bed and breakfast" business, for people who like a quiet fishing place for vacation.
Or start a campground for people who like to go camping and fishing.
You could seed the pond with the right fish to make it more desirable to more fishing customers.
Or do some farming.
One big factor to consider, in deciding what to do, is where your place is. If it's near a good tourist attraction, that could make a big difference in the best way to earn money.
It also depends on what kind of work you do. If you write books and need some peace and quiet to write the next great bestseller, it looks like you have it, and just need to use it. |
