First start by going through the SBA website. It has a wealth of information.
Read everything. Then take a SBA class. It's very cheap and has lots of info to gain from. I took it too and i'm glad.

I am a stay at home and run my own business from home. My husband works construction and during the winter months its tight so my pay checks saves us. It took me 3 yrs to find something legit.

Buy a lawnmower and start cutting lawns - same with snowthrower. Sell on ebay, or import items from other countries and re-sell on your website - do photography (you can start small there).
Small businesses fail mostly because of lack of capital - you should need 0 income from it for 2 - 3 years. |

If you are honest and hard working easy. Well...
Just think big, be professional, have the basics like
Letterhead, Biz Cards, Professional Invoices, stuff like that. Nothing says not going to succeed like a hand written invoice.
Quick-books was great for me. Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk.
I did and I do well. Started w/ 500 bucks. Gross 1 mill a year now, solo.
