How can a 12 year old boy make money over the summer?
What I can't do:

-paper routes (there's no route near here really we just buy it ourselves)

-lemonade stands (seems to origanal and not really my thing)

What I think are good choices:

-mowing lawns for $20 a lawn or

-watching people's kids (i'm great with them) $10-$20 and hour?

-cleaning up people's yards or houses

-cleaning around my own place

people just give me some suggestions, tips, ect.

the ideas you gave are great, my daughter has been doing all of those things since she was 12 and has earned some money. washing people's vehicles, walking and / or bathing dogs, dog or pet sitting are things that people would appreciate.

The best would have to be lawn care...mowing,raking,general cleaning up.You can make fast money that way.

I don't think(unless you are watching several kids at once)you will be able to make $10-$20 an hour babysitting tho.

Maybe get some of your friends together and have a car wash.Sell kool-aide while your at it too.

urieliscubsfan
get all the toys u have and all the things you dont need and put a yard sale

At your age you should have lots of energy so I would suggest lawn care as well. If you take care of children you are taking on risky responsibility. With the lawn work you will be outside and have the feel of more freedom that you won't have keeping someone else's c hildren.

Babysitting is always a good route. Mowing is a good idea, but good luck getting $20/lawn. How about setting up a pet walking business? People will often pay to have you walk their dogs or even babysit them during the day. Good luck and good for you for trying to earn your way!!

i think you have a great start. put out fliers for misc. things around your area and hopefully you'll get some odd jobs to help out and make some extra cash! good luck!!

jkl;
i think your charging too much to watch kids especially at your age.. if your good at drawing you can sell pictures of anime or a cartoon at your school. or do your chores for an allowance. or have a garage sale and sell the stuff you dont want anymore.

Devilish Angel
Are you nuts little buddy?!?

There is no way in hell you're gonna get anywhere near $20 for mowing lawns or babysitting younger kids than yourself, I can promise you that my boy!!!

I'm a grown woman in my late thirties and I got paid less than $5 PER HOUR for watching FOUR (4) CHILDREN age 3, 6, 8 and 12 years old!!!

I would keep with cleaning yards, houses, washing cars & cutting the grass if I were you!

Good luck to you buddy!

Help clean our basements and garages

Help collect cans

Shop with a shopping cart for an old person and accept tips only

Go to garage sales, buy good new or almost new stuff, repackage for gifts during the year which saves money.

Bake brownies and sell at a lakefront, ion a playground, etc.

Kate
I'd say that $10-$20 an hour for watching kids is a little too expensive.

Instead of a lemonade stand, why not something less kiddy like a smoothie stand? I know I'd love to see one.

Yard work is good if you can do a good enough job to please your patrons. Babysitting is also great if you are good with children, but no way I thing you will get $10 to $20/hr. Another idea would be pet-sitting, walking dogs, etc. Another idea is to collect aluminum cans--a lot of people just throw them along the road, etc. If you ride your bike, you could also run errands or make deliveries for people. Good Luck!

mowing ther lawn would be great. first of all its a nice work out and you dont get paid too low for something, like baby sitting(even though your good at it). Also its pretty quick just for $20, usually ppl get paid 15 or maybe 10 dollars for mowing. I think thats the best deal with the least pressure and needs practically no skill at all.

Yard work is good. Give a fair price to elderly people who need the help. Go to them, explain your intentions, and you could very likely pick up a few odd jobs. Painting is good too. Many don't like the tedium of painting. So if you're any good at it............... I don't know if folks would feel really secure about 12 year-old being responsible for their children.. Could depend largely on your reputation or how well they know you. You might collect aluminum cans. Run errands for people. Think positive and money will come your way. Good to see you're thinking ahead. Set your game plan and go with it.

Spiral_Dancer
The yard work/odd jobs idea is probably your best bet...but watching kids for 10-20$ an HOUR? Thats laughable. The average charge for baby-sitting is $2.00/hr per child.
Make up some flyers to stuff in mailboxes around your neighborhood, lisitng what you're willing to do. Advertise yourself! best of Luck!

ummmm, what are you good at? Like, if you're good at watching kids and you like them, go for it. just make sure you only sit for family friends, no strangers. also, make sure that you have an adult you could contact at any time.

You could walk dogs

You could bathe dogs

you could comb dogs

You could go to your parent's work. They'd probably give you odd jobs like sweeping and stuff. hope it works out!!!

Mowing Lawns is a huge money making business. I know many boys who have gone on to start their own business after high school and is doing very well. Some other suggestions is:

-Walking dogs or maybe even dog sitting while a family is on vacation
-Cleaning cars
-Taking peoples trash to the road on trash day
-Pool Cleaning
and even Making and selling Sno Cones

stacie
I think it'd be best to rake or mow people's lawns you'd prolly should get paid like 15 an hour for that and if you like watching people's kids I would start $5 an hour and if you get a lot of costumers you can raise the price a bit.

Kathleen M
YOU COULD WALK DOGS, GROOM DOGS, TAKE CARE OF ANIMALS, MAYBE IF YOU DON'T GET TOO GROSSED OUT, YOU COULD CLEAN UP YARDS AFTER ANIMALS, OR YOU COULD TRY TO GET A JOB AT AN ANIMAL SHELTER, YOU COULD MAKE ALOT OF MONEY OFF OF THESE JOBS!!

juuullllsssss
being a good boy and telling really why yu want it cause parents get what you need and if they dont and i mean what you need not what you always want when told why not , so it must be something they cant or wont get so tell them and be a good boy they will give you jobs and if you resist to that job dont count on ever getting any cause your not willing . the reason we have laws for the age of 16 is because your supposed to be a kid and the workplace can take advantage of vein young workers without knowledge or strength to object to requests not allowed by law and or shorting your pay be a kid

Walk some peoples dogs for them if they are busy, or take care of pets when they're out of town or something. Maybe like $50-$100 a week :-)

Mowing lawns is good but you might want to look into opportunities of a gold course, you might be too young but golf related jobs usually pay pretty good (eg: caddy)

First of all, to whoever sad that you cant get 20 bucks for the lawn is a liar. I get paid 20-30 dollars per mowing depending on the grass height. Also, try 10 dollars an hour for babysitting and ask the coustomer if they have anyone else who needs your services than raise the price.
