stephen93094 | How can a 12 year old make money? |
I have tried the lawnmowing business....i had a sign in my front yard, and handed out fliers to neighbors-no business. I am thinking this winter of doing a snow shoveling business, because no1 wants to snow shovel, but any suggestions? |

You could teach the elderly people in your neighborhood basic computer skills. Many people over the age of 60 have a computer, but never learned how to use it. |

My son is collecting aluminum cans from neighbors in order to get the recycling money for a school trip. The kids in my neighborhood do a fair amount making snow cones in the summer for a $1 a piece.
Maybe pet sitting, dog walking, baby sitting.
The lawnmowing thing would scare some adults - what if you get hurt - then they get sued by your parents. |

Its hard at twelve because most people don't want to hire 12 year olds to mow, was cars or even shovel snow because the truth of the matter is that twelve year olds usually don't do a very good job. You might be able to get a job as a paperboy depending upon how newspapers are delived where you live |

When I was 11 years old I started a book business. I would visit the homes of housewives in the neighborhood and offer to take any paperback or hardcover books off their hands. It's amazing how many books people stock up on and never read again. Many of them were more than willing to just give them away. After a week or so of collecting books I would set up a couple tables at the local market (they are often very accommodating to kids trying to make a buck) and would sell the books @ 1$ each, 3 for $2 and so on.
The same type of women, housewives doing their shopping etc, would come by and rebuild their collections with books they haven't yet read. It was a win win situation.
I would easily make between $50 and $100 per Saturday.
Another job I had was at a florist cutting flower stems. You show up early in the morning and cut flowers for a few hours. |

Keep trying harder. The biggest rules are:
Don't quit
try to find more customers
Someone will always pay to have something done
Have you tried car washing on the weekends? A parent who will help? Sell cookies door to door. Paper route.
Sell candy at school. By a bag of blowpops. Sell each one for $0.50 take that money and by three more bags keep selling and you will make some good money. But your school may not like it so keep it low key. This used to work for me a long time ago. |

Lots and lots of chores? Maybe work out a pocket money deal with your parents. You could deliver catalogues, be a paper boy or something. Most businesses don't employ kids until they are 13-14, so you could always wait a little longer. |

snow shoveling is a good idea but its not year round income.
ever think of washing/detailing cars in your neighbors driveways? what about yard sales? i had a neighbor once that went around collecting things that people were throwing out,and every weekend he would sell them in his front yard.
there are also ways to make money on the internet, but beware of scams. ask your parents to look at the websites you find to make sure theyre legit.
another thing you could do is repair old bike that you may come across, fixing them up and selling them either by locking them up with a 'for sale' sign or selling them at pawn stores. |

you got to take it to the next level, my man. take your lawnmower with you, dirty your hands, face and clothes a little bit,( you'll look like you've been working hard). and go door to door looking for customers. especially the ones with long grass. if that doesn't work, just start cutting someone's yard (make sure to do a good job, trim and everything) then knock and tell them they owe you $25 bucks, and you'll be back every week. this should get you some customers. |
