Print off some flyers and deliver them to all the houses in you local area - that should get the customers in!

Deep Throat
Put an ad on local radio?

try knocking on the doors of houses near existing customers. It may be that they don't have a window cleaner at all. Tradesmen like you don't do enough to get new custom - I hadn't had my windows cleaned for 5 years till I spotted a window cleaner just packing up from having cleaning my next door neighbour's windows. I chased him down the road to his car and managed to get him to come back and do mine. That was £10 he wouldn't otherwise have earned, but all he had to do was knock on my door in the first place.

Word of mouth is the best! but you have to be good dependable & a really decent person the public you work for will be your best advertisers. Make sure you have a good supply of business cards with you at all times How long have you been a window cleaner for? Goodluck.

Have you tried talking to Realtors / Builders in your area. Clean windows can mean a lot in selling homes. Try to set something up with a local management company that manages strip centers, maybe they can get you on a monthly contract.

I have found that business people don't have time to look for window cleaners so it's best to find dirty windows and go in and ask them in person. Go get them tiger ! Good Luck !

I would advertise in your local newspaper and post leaflets into the houses in which you could possibly clean windows.

Also, you could knock on peoples doors and ask them if they already have a window cleaner and would they want you to clean there windows.

Local advertising is the best and I wouldn't bother setting up a website unless you want to expand your business nationwide.

I hope this helps and I wish you every success in the future.

Put ads on the radio, and the paper, a lot of people read the paper, and listen to the local radio stations. You can also make some flyers, and post them in places such as grocery stores, restaurants, laundromats, and any other place that has a bulletin board. You can make the flyer so you can have pull tabs on it, by having your phone number on the bottom of the paper. (The number will read from top to bottom on the pull tabs, which only will take about an inch or two on the paper) That way the customer would take off the pull tab, and since it most likely have your phone number on it, the customer will give you a call. I did this for a business, and I went all over the county, and surrounding counties, and we had A LOT of business. I recommend that you make plenty of flyers. The more flyers you make, the more customers you will get.

print out your current costs and drop them through doors of houses you currently do not do and then the same applies to the businesses you do not do for the businesses i would suggest a cheap trial period say two months and then put the charge to the normal costage inform them though that the first price is for a limited time and stick to that time do not let it over/under run good luck

You need some one who is in the world of graphic design and advertising to design some funky A5 flyer (like me) so you can print them off and drop them through peoples door! But you dont want them to look cheesy and you want to put something down that different to what other window cleaners dont do..... Like the other week I had loads of leaflets through my door that half of them I chuck out as they dont give me a very good feel for the person seeking the jobs..... But i came accross one flyer and it looked welcoming and the window cleaner was advertising that they dont use any harsh products on the windows..... they just use plain old water and some funky new tools of the trade. Although I did find it hard to find a window cleaner that would clean my windows as there are so many of them... windows that is....! Im in the north east! And if you need any help for a funky design Ill do it for free! As I am nice like that! And if you need to find some windows to clean-then a simple little A5 funky flyer should do the trick - and get them printed out at a local printers like....

http://www.printing.com/home.php?curr=GBNI

They are a good start... you can pay up to and as little as £50 for some funky printed materials..... Like a business card to drop through peoples door...... Its will defo make more of an impact than some black and white bouring old photo copy piece of mailing.

Have a look at the website above and get some ideas for yourself...... best £50 you probably could spend....!

I think they even chuck in free design also! But I think in this day and age...... advertising is moving forward to more funky and new rather than photocopies of junk.......

and good old word of mouth!

oh and you have to look good and professional.....

Hope this helps and good look in your window hunting.......

Contact your local community college...many of them have some awesome free resources for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Also, contact the marketing teacher(s) at that school. Every marketing class that I have ever taken requires creating a full-blown, professional marketing plan for a real company...most students have a hard time finding a small, existing local company to work with. The students will fully analyze the local market/customer base and establish the most effective means of reaching them for your business through the parameters (how much money you have to spend) that you set.

My husband is a window cleaner... word of mouth is the best recommendation so continue to do a good job! Leave your business card with each customer.

Sunny days will bring more customers when the sunshine shows up the dirt on the windows!

Advertise by leaflet drop or in a local/parish magazine where advertising space is cheap.

Good luck!

Do some freebies and have some business cards ready for your potential customers when they ask you what on earth you think you are doing. When they see what a great job you do you'll have loads of new customers. Good luck!

I found an awesome book at my local library called "Marketing without Money" by Nicholas E Bade. See if your library has it or can order through the system. The book features 300 ideas for marketing free or at very low cost. Remember your marketing expenses are tax deductible so keep receipts on every penny you spend for business purposes. Don't forget about word of mouth advertising!!! Your existing customers, if happy, will be talking about you ... especially if you ask them to. "Do you know anyone else who needs my service?" Get a big stack of "thank you" cards.

you can clean mine,i will pay £10 every two weeks.

follow one of your competitors around for a couple of days and re-visit their customers a day before their next scheduled washing. make them a better offer.

Use flyers thro' the post adding something extra like washing the windowsills if you don't already do it.
