I would worry more that they would bounce - then there are all the fees, etc. If you accept credit cards then you might be able to sign up for the check verification service. I know our merchant account recently offered us that service. We didn't need it because checks in our business aren't something we accept just because of the type of business. But that might be something to look into if you are really needing to accept checks. |

Usually when you set up your credit card acceptance they will ask you if you want to accept checks. There are many check clearing houses. TeleCheck is one such company. They charge you a fee for each check you accept just like the credit card companies do. I would contact what ever processing company you use for your credit cards. These clearing houses have softwear they use with the check ready to detect conterfit checks. There clearing houses guarantee the check to you if it comes back for a reason they make it good. |

The problem with accepting personal checks is when they bounce. Good if you know the person paying out in check, it's so easy to track him down. |

Small Shops do not accept checks, from unknown persons.
Counterfeit Check or Bouncing Check !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Accepting checks should be a avoided.
Go for Credit Card or Debit Card which are verified than and there on the Swapping Machine. |
