MommyB | How do I create a way for people to pay with credit cards? |
I want to sell my pies locally, advertising on the web. I need to know how to get started. How long does this process take? How can I set up a web page and payment options for my customers? What else can I do to make this endeavor successful on a starter's budget? |

In order to legally sell your pies locally or on the web, your home kitchen needs to be licensed and registered with your county health department.
The application does not take long. Getting your kitchen inspected takes a bit longer.
Once you have all the legalities sorted, take your pies to local cafes, grocery stores and restaurants. Bring small plates, forks napkins and anything you may need to serve samples and a list of all ingredients. Have a copy of your county health dept. paperwork with you.
Selling pies on the Internet will be hard if people have not tasted them. I would get your product out there first and then introduce a website where your current customers can order from.
The info posted here on pay pal is good. |

Why not use PayPal??? All you need to do is set up a business account and your clients can pay through the site with their credit card... |

Set up an account with Pay Pal. You can then add the Pay Pal link to your webpage and everyone can pay with credit cards, debit cards, checking account, whatever they link to Pay Pal. For local business I would suggest making the rounds at every faire and boutique you can muster, dropping off order forms (and samples..yummy) at churches, etc. Prayers for a successful endeavor!! Merry Christmas! |

You have to get a web page for about $300. Then you have to get a domain for about $20. Then you have to get hosting for about $15 per month. You have to get a business license from city hall for about $100. Then you have to get signed up with a credit card company and they will charge you varying rates on what you sell from 3% upwards. Then you have to buy ads from the search engines for local content only. The price varies. You could do all this in about 3 weeks but you're gonna have to be baking a lot of pies in the meantime. |

PayPal is the universally accepted mechanism for accepting credit cards on the Web. Setting up a Web page is a bit more complex and there are quite a number of questions to ask and issues to consider.
I am the owner of a small business doing computer consulting and I have set up a PayPal account to allow clients to pay their invoices via credit card. Along those lines, I offer my web design and development services to you, I think you will find my prices extremely reasonable. info@oregoncomputerpros.com |
