Kind of surprised that a business would not want to recieve telemarketing calls. Yeah I know what your going to say. They always call when you are busy. Well all calls you recieve are interuptive by nature, whether it is from the "better half" or a complete stranger, so it is really with what kind of attitude you are going to answer the call.
According to a recent report complied by the Direct Marketing Association, telemarketing or cold calling is the #1 way of creating new business and more are taking advantage of this every day. It is cost effecient and effective, when done correctly, problem is that most dont know how to do it successfully and therefore really come off sounding like a canned commerical that is meant to break through your objections.
The result most just hangup and that is where you make the biggest mistake.
Next time you recieve a call from a company who's service or product would be of no benefit for you or offer any solutions to issues you are experiencing, then stop the caller and ask to have your name and number removed from their calling list. I always do this politely and respectfully.
Because this is an internal process that is done by the call center, it can be done imeditately.
Dont hang up yet...confirm with the caller or their supervisior that your request has been process and when it will take affect.
This procedure is more effective than the National DNC list and usually produces immediate results.
When I first began my business, within the first month I was recieving 3 - 4 calls a day and now I only get the telemarketing calls that I want from companies that I may want to do business with.

If you have a business number and it is listed in a directory as a business, you cannot place your number on the DNC list.
The DNC list is for CONSUMERS ONLY.

Add your # to the National do not call list it will go into effect quickly. But you will still get very few calls from companies that your business is affaliated with. Ex, if you have a credit card, that company will still be allowed to call you for any promotional offers. However, my calls were reduced by 99%, and I love it. see the link below to register. You can also use it to register your cell and house phone. |

I have the same problem. I did post a message on my website located next to my phone number that solicitation was not welcomed and that my number was listed on the do not call registry. I do not believe that there is any other way to stop it other than telling these people that they will be reported if they do not remove you from their call list. You can report the violations at the link below. To file a complaint, they need the date you got the call, and either the name or telephone number of the company that called you. |
