I had this sort of issue as well. I posted a question and obviously someone thinks home based travel businesses are a "scam" ... I nicely replied back to him and told him how legit it was and the company's 33 year history ... this is what I have been doing...
With every customer that purchases from my YTB business, I offer them a super discounted travel certificate that they could use for later in the year whenever they want. I also advertise in the local community centers and dance studios, places where families go ... when they do purchase a travel package, I also give a travel gift; (disney cruise purchased, I give their kids a disney towel or bag which I buy cheap from Walmarts here in FL ...). They end up spreading the word to their friends.. I have also gotten a good response from laundromats, school PTA meetings and cleaners; posting signs there where people have the time to stand and read flyers when they are bored... i brought a car magnet from Staples for $14.99 and have gotten 32 calls in th last 2 weeks from that...hope this helps - people are so use to seeing travel STORES that when one has an online business they think it is a scam and it is not.... good luck. |

Think like your customers would. Where would you go to find a travel agent? I would start on-line..Google travel agencies and whatever website pops up advertise on the first 2 or 3. Or get your own site you pay by the click so you can set the amount you can spend each month. |

You are getting into a tough business. The Facebook idea (and similar sites) is probably a good idea but from someone who started a small business from scratch Word of Mouth is going to be your best advertisement.
Good luck. |

Why don't you meet with local businesses and let them know what you can do and how flexible you can be. Perhaps you could extend NET 30 terms to them for paying you if they will loyally use you. You purchase their ticket on your company / personal credit and then bill them for payment when your bill is due and then they pay you using their credit card. This would give them 60 days (or so) before they would have to pay the bill. Of course you would charge a reasonable fee for this service. You would get the side benefit of getting points on your credit card for the charges that your customers are making. This would also help you build your credit stronger as your credit accounts would get used and paid heavily.
This only works if you have a lot of credit available to begin with.
Small business owners know that loyal repeat customers are where most of their business comes from - depending on the type of business. You need to make them aware that you understand this and you will be their customer as well when you have need of the types of services they provide - though you should not make statements or promises of your business to them and then never come by or purchase from them.

1) make sure its in a good location ( very important) so more people can see it.
2)word of mouth - when you meet people outside of work inform them of the great offers you have ect.
3)keep customers happy, so they keep coming back. |

I like "silent advertising". You can get some inexpensive t-shirts made w/ your logo and something to catch people's attention. I have generated a lot of leads this way. Just where them everywhere you go. Or you could use buttons. There are also lots of free online advertising you can work but you have to be diligent and consistent with this. Don't expect to do 5 ads and get tons of leads. Add it to your daily task list. Eventually, you can get some great leads this way also. Hope that helps. |

You've tried many great ideahs but mabey you can expand more like if you have any relatives in a different state they can tell there fellow citizens. Also, if you make a website people easily can find it. |

To get more customers you should make your store very colorful . you should try to put you travel agency in the phone book you should have your family tell every one they know about it. you should come up with a jinggle to get customers
you should ask stores if they could hand out flyers you should tape the flyers on all most every street pole that there is. that what i think you should do |
