How do I get traffic to my site?

Hi, I just started a cool website http://paymaker.net. It is a online job management and billing system for small business and contractors. I am getting some signups but would like to get much more traffic. Does anyone know of any trick or tips to get alot more traffic?

There are a number of free resources available to advertise your website and increase traffic. You can advertise on relevant free classifieds ( www.craigslist.org) ,directories (dmoz) and relevant forums. Major search engines like Yahoo, Google , MSN search are a major source of visitors for most websites and you can submit your website to these search engines for free. Have you tried any of the traffic exchanges, some are better than others, but that is where I sugguest you try first. All of the other methods, including but not limited to SEO and google, could end up costing you lot's of money.

Have you thought about pay per click programs? The two biggest, I think, are Yahoo! and Google

There are some ways to get traffic to your site:

1. Post in forums. If your site is about jewelry, search for jewelry forums in Google, get a forum account and post actively there. Include your signature with a link to your site.

Articles. Forums. SEO. It's not an easy task but if you work at it you can start to see results.

You can pay a fee to search engines to have your site address and description posted at the top of search result pages. I have heard that this is very effective. You could also find/or know of other sites that might be sympathetic to your cause that would let you have a link on their page, possibly for a link to them on your page. Good Luck
