Pass out business cards at big corporations if they will let you. Either place it on all employees cars or give them to secutiy desk when you first walk in. Also contact local Apartment complexs some are in need of a tow truck company to handle there parking complaints. You can also contact AAA. They out source there tows to local towing company when one there trucks is not available and pay well. And also as mentioned by someone else contact local emergency services non emergency number and some citites will give some of there dui and accidents to you!!! And last but not least in your state if there is any places that do Loans on Car Titles they will give there repos to you! Good luck!!! |

run around town letting air outof tires, disconnecting battery cables and such. Put a flyer on the window for his company, that would be the first one they would call. Do this only at night so you don't get caught. This is just a joke,
Have him get on the list of towing companies used by the local cops for DUI's, car accidents and such, this will get his name out fast. They carry a list of towers and use the one of theri choice. The list gets updated often and they have to be fair and use the services in order, this way they don't just use one. |

You may want to contact local insurance companies and small car repair shops. They can probably give you some business. |

A website is not a good investment as people still have to find your site among a million other ones.
I would suggest that your son-in-law go out into the community and meet other local business owners. He should think of businesses who would recommend his services (auto repair, tire store, etc.).
Also, consider joining the local chamber of commerce. |

You could step up yourself here and trade in your nice car on a real piece of junk so he gets more business. |

I would go around to auto dealer, garages, and auto insurance companies with magnetic business cards and hand them out. Maybe even a some discount coupons give a certain percentage off the total towing costs. Try an ad in the supermarket discount papers, and auto sellers.
The possibilities are limitless. |

Grab the Yellow Pages and start calling all the Collision Repair Shops. Tell them you are willing to give them a "deal" on their towing business. Tell them how many hooks and flatbeds you have and whether you have 24 hr service. Mount a map of your target area on the wall and stick pins in the location of each competitor and repair shop. Call the AAA and give them a description of our service, good luck. |

Printed key fobs may be a good idea.
Something to keep the prospect away from the yellow pages and other companies' advertisements.
Maybe also have a family tow club promotion where after so many tows within a certain family group, one is provided free?
Wish him luck in his endeavour! |

You could set up a website and advertise it by putting the web address on your car. |

You need a basic website and then promote the site on his truck, business cards and flyers. You might consider using a blog to promote him and sharing some amusing stories (without names) about people getting stuck, etc. |

If he's got a decent looking tow truck, just getting out and driving around is like free advertising. Depending on the size of his town, word travels fast, and if folks see him out and about, everyone will know who to call when they need help. Lend him a car or 2 to haul around, that'll help alot.
I have a friend who is an electrician and when he's not busy he always leaves his truck in a friends driveway, that way people think he's working.
So if you SiL's truck isn't 'decorated' you can help him by getting some signage for it. Good Luck ! |
