Well, you could write a plan of action for him and email it or if you feel his wife would be upset I wouls just leave it alone.
It is really tuff to be in a business that there is family working there.
I wouldnt start out an email stating I know how to save your business I would start out with not even stating it is an idea.
You could round about mention what you have in mind by implying it. Like it really doesnt mean a whole lot to you. This way it doesnt look like you are one uping the wife and two it sounds so much better if you are not sounding like you are jumping up and down trying to get attention or recognition over it |

My advice is to walk away. Now. I was in the same situation a few months ago. I told him, very tactfully, very kindly, that he was losing business. It was to the point where he wasn't paying me on time because of it. The problem? His 20 yrs. younger girl friend. It was pathetic. Anyway,long story short, he said, "maybe you should find a different job if you disagree with how i do things." I said, "you know, your right, i can't sit here and wait for you to work, wait for you to pay me, while you chase booty." I was out of there that day, my choice. I still see him, we are still friends, but to keep my job, i would have had to shut up. And i JUST COULDN'T ANYMORE! |

if itsw either his wife or you ,you could loose your job,so what have you got to loose ,if you say nothing and the job crashes you will loose anyway so .either you convince him that you know what you are doing and maybe he will see reason
so try to convince him and you will stay to save the business or you will go to look for another job.Which you would have to do anyway if it crashes. |

Schedule a meeting with him, and ask him how things are going. Let him share his view. Tell him you have some ideas that may help, and present them clearly, consisely, with facts to back it up, and stay clear of the wife!!! Do not critize her or talk about her. Keep it professional. Discuss ideas, not people. If he brings up the wife, be honest but complimentary. Say whatever good you can about her, and stick to ideas not people for improvement. Maybe she can learn, if he talks to her, but if you pit her against you, you will lose. |

The worst that can happen is that you lose your job if you say something to him. But, if you don't, that may happen anyway. I'd say you have nothing to lose. So, you might as well have an honest talk with him. |

The unfortunate fact is that you don't own the business and you have no power. If you make an issue, the wife will get you canned, if you stick it out, the business fails. You probably can't force a choice between you and the missus and win. If the boss doesn't already listen to you then he probably won't start listening. Therefore, your best bet is to try to get the wife's ear. Make peace, make friends, come to an understanding with her and save the business through compromise. That's your best chance in my opinion.
