Start an Ebay store. I know it would be cooler to have your own site sell them, but create a web site that directs your customers to your Ebay store.
Creating a web site capable of accepting credit card numbers is expensive, and you would have to sell a whole lot of Dream Catchers to come anywhere close to paying for the web site. |

We use Geocities Free. We do all the picture takeing and posting. I takes quite a while to get advertising into the search engines, but if you want to sell, you have to get listed.
Since your selling something home made, I suggest you go also with a homemade website.
TAke your time and enjoy what you do. If it works for you, you can use the money to expand. Don't buy any service untill you know you have a market. (Except for a Domain name)

The best place in my opinon to start a website would be www.freewebs.com because hosting is free. The only downside to this is that the link will look something like this: www.freewebs.com/my_crafts/ But dont worry you can use a site such as bravenet.com and have them shorten it for you.
Another reason why freewebs.com is great because it is really easy to use and has many features such as guestbook, polls, personal chatroom, etc.

I would suggest a professional hosting account. There are many free accounts you can use like geocities, however, many of these free accounts have ads on your site. Also, you want to be able to handle the volume if your site becomes very successful. Although there are many hosting companies out there......I suggest the following.

When starting an online business there are many things to consider. Do you have a product you would like to sell or are you planning on selling an existing product as an affiliate marketer? Do you have a budget or will you be raising capital later? You will nedd to spend money in order to make money. How is easy you just hire someone, but if the question is 'what do I have to do to create my own website' id say stick with your ebay account. but if you still need to, use one of the ready made sites, Yahoo has it already set to go, just sign up and use all the shopping cart tools. |
