there is a fantastic website that gives businesses a check list of everything you need to do. Check it out because it tells you every government department you need to talk to and every form you need to fill in. I did it and it was really help full.

If you get an accountant they will help you with all the necessary paperwork etc. Being self employed is well worth it, good luck. |

most colleges now have courses for t hose who want to start a business. If there is a college in your location, talk to one of the resource counsellors. |

If you want to do it right, hire a lawyer and an accountant. It's alot easier to have someone who knows what they are doing, do it for you. |

discuss it with the advisors at the job center they will also advise you on any extra allowance you can get for becoming self employed |

Self employed myself , one word accountant - keeps you right and can guide you to the necessary areas for any funding etc etc you might need.Make sure you get a good one though , i got stung many years ago with a dodgy accountant and learned my lesson from that.
Congrats on starting up yourself , can be hard some times but worth it . |

There are a couple of ways, some of the high street banks (e.g. RBS) have good business start up packs which are available for free.
Alternatively I found a local accountant who helped me when I started my business. With all the stresses and strains, it was worth the £500 i spent to set the company up and sort the 1st years accounts and learn all the tax issues and what had to be done, this freed me up to concentrate on getting the business sorted e.g. finding customers etc.

go to www.SBA.gov it has all kinds of information in it. It tells you what permits and licensing you need, all about taxes etc. |

Have a word with your local Chamber of Commerce or Business Centres most towns now have them. Plus you can check with Companies house that you do not have the same name as someone else already.
Make sure you keep accounts from day 1. |
