i have several customers who have been with me since my first year in business, and i want to reward them.

it has been 5 years and i want to properly thank them for sticking it out with me. i was thinking about a lunch date or something. coupons are so unpersonal.

what are your opinions?? suggestions??

thanks!

Constant interaction with them is fulfilling. Develop more personal and meaningful relationships, have a group outing or lunch date as you had suggested. The idea is to see them and treat them as FRIENDS and not as customers. They will be able to sense a change in the attitude and this builds better customer loyalty and is very rewarding.

melvinschmugmeier
discounts, coupons, freebies. I'm not sure what you do, but make it meaningful but not terribly personal because the company that you want to reward may actually have gift policies that could make the situation awkward.

I suggest you get monogramed mugs with your company name on them and then say something like "a valued customer through the years" or "thank you for celebrating 5 years with us"

put candy in the mug, with celophane and a tie it.

depending how close you are to your customers....the next time they schedule an appointment have lunch for them....I think sending them flowers or a fruit basket with your personal note of thanks is thoughtful.

Check out Harry and David for gift baskets. Those things are to die for and not as expensive as one might think. It's the token that will mean a lot to your customers.

it seems that your customers are other businesses.
in that case, the best reward would be discounted prices.

But you also don't want to effect your profit in a harmful way.....

- you could figure out a point system so they could use collected points to get discounts (but i dont reccommend this)

- Also, it is possible to make special prices to all of these old customers, include the original price on the invoice and the discount amount.
i know This will be the best gift to me if i have a business

hham
give them candy!

you could send them a gift basket, or a calendar.

Don't you reward them with good service? Beyond that, relate a gift to them and or your business. Maybe something you don't do but related to it. I had a computer business and saw a place that gave away chocolate floppy disks. At the big computer show, someone took little chips and glued eyes to them.. and gave them away as "computer bugs."

Coupons dont have to be tacky. Just make them really nice and special for the special customers. Think of something USEFUL to your particular customers and put your company name on it. You're a business, it's ok to promote that.

Depends on what kind of business you have. Discounts are always great, make sure they know it is a "loyalty" or customer appreciation discount that's not available to the public. Or tickets to a sporting event?

It depends how much money you have to offer. If you don't have enough then lunch is good. Coupons are DEFINITELY unpersonable and don't do that. I believe taking them to see a concert like James Taylor, or jazz. Something low key like that is nice. Perhaps a place with a large lawn to sit and hear the live music. Also, give them a complimentary bottle of wine for the concert (if it's on the lawn). But, don't kiss-up too much by providing them food as well.

We have a small business and we always send out cards for b day and holidays. At xmas my wife makes cookies and we deliver sugar free cookies to our 100 clients personally. We also have a bar b que at a park and than take our clients to a ranger game once a year. Sometimes we host events at day spas or golf tourneys that have rewards and gifts. We pay for everything in order to talk with clients and show our appreciation.

Why don't you give them little free bees that let them know they helped you out. Like flowers, or a mug. Hope this helps.

coupons are unpersonal, but if its a coupon for something good, really nice... you do feel rewarded. Once a company gave me a certificate for 100$ worth of steaks. Those were the best steaks I ever had, I really appreciated it.

satman292003
it does say in her nickname. i would have a open evening & show them wot other things u do & give them a good discount & lay on a bit of food & drink & maybe a bottle of bubbly to take home with them.

A nice complimentary thing for you to do for your patrons would be to give them a personal gift not a discount. Personal gifts are more meaningful and prove to them that they, specifically, are a truly valued asset to your company. Think out of the realm...flowers(been done), gift baksets (nice but been done), coupons (not personal enough), dinner(good idea but general)...etc... Think of something you personally would enjoy if you were them. There are so many ideas out there. One interesting thing that comes to mind is a chocolate company I saw on tv the other day. they can make anything out of chocolate....company logos, sculptures, art...I mean literally anything. This is something totally different. It would be very unexpected and something that alot of people like. For the customers that are diabetic there is such thing as "Dietetic Chocolate" that really does taste great!

Below are a couple of nice sites, but there are thousands out there! Have a great day ad lots of fun!

get a free and expense payed trip for them

depends on your business...if it's a store, maybe you could post their names on a window for recognition. If it's like insurance where you go to their home or office, take a potted plant. Whatever it is...just make them feel like it is their special day in honor of them. and thanks for sticking it out with you.you couldn't have done it without them.

A lunch date is such a personal way to thank them and I think that it is a very good idea...that is if you intend on picking up the tab. I would make a big deal out of it. Have cute invitations printed and mail them to them. At your luncheon present them each with a coupon as well, neatly wrapped in colorful tissue paper and tied with pretty ribbon. This will make the offer seem much less impersonal. Remember that word of mouth is the best advertisement so with gestures such as these I see another 5 years in your future and more than likely more successful than ever! Good Luck!
