paula p | How do i sign off the dole without seeming suspicious? |
related to my previous question: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/?link=best&qid=20070508065959AAorWvs&r=w&pa=F5xxBXHpPmKSlmhy00sKliq0spAkidXH8ZJqGm1rhUPXGqcAQLf8HA--&paid=choose_best
i want to sign off asap so i can go legit with my business, but i don't want to arouse suspicion - if they check up on me and see that i've been running a business for the past few years i could get prosecuted. i know this is illegal and wrong but it's the only way i could have possibly built up my business into what it is now - plus i will paying a lot of tax back into the govt now! |

And in the meantime tax payers such as myself have been paying for you to do this. We'd all like to have successful businesses to rake us in a fortune but we don't all sponge off of all the honest people in order to do this. I hope you do get caught, quite frankly. |

Just because you'll be paying back a lot more tax doesn't excuse the fact that we've all been supporting you for the last few years! There are always other ways to starting up a business and to be honest, I expect that yours will fail with an attitude like that. I do know ways that you could get around your predicament but I'd be a fool for telling you! I hope they throw the book at you, you selfish money grabbing @rsehole!
p.s. What's the name of your business?? I'd like to warn people off :) |

So, while we're at work and paying our taxes to fund the 'jobless' you're clamining benefits and earning money. Nice! |

It all depends on what you've been earning from your business.
You really should have been filling out a declaration of income these last two years which allows you to claim dole in the weeks you earn less from your business than the dole payment is worth.
If you haven't been earning much from the business ie breaking even, making a loss, or maybe only a few quid on average every month. I'd be tempted to plead stupidity and try not to mention it for the next six years.
The "sorry I didn't realise" excuse is a quite effective one if coupled with "oh of course I'll pay back what I wasn't entitled to" in small sums owing.
That said, if you've been earning close to a living wage without declaring it and claiming at the same time they're gonna look at it as fraud no matter how much you plead with them. You're gonna have to pay what they say you owe - They're really gung ho about dragging it through court and landing you with a fraud charge.
It's a risk either way - Declare the last two years and you definately have to pay the cash and you get possible risk of a fraud case.
- Don't declare it and you may get away with it but, if caught, you risk an even greater likelyhood of a fraud charge, a fine, and you still have to pay the cash back |

are you aware that you could have operated legally and possibly claimed tax credits which may have been more than your jsa!
apart from coming clean (which could have major consequences, like re-paying the jsa you've claimed, a criminal record for benefit fraud, investigations by HM revenues & customs over tax and VAT etc) you have the option of pretending that you are stopping claiming jsa to start a business. perhaps you could speak to your jobcentre adviser about self-employment help and courses to convince them you want to start a business, then a few months down the line 'set-up' in business, it's unlikely then that they will become suspicious - however you are playing with fire!!
you really should have done things honestly from the start, but at least you are taking steps towards that now.
also note that you can get totally confidential advice from any citizen's advice bureau, if you tell them you have committed benefit fraud they will advise you where you stand but will not report you, or you can always be seen anonymously without giving them your details if you wish. |

Yes you are:
Working for the HM Revenue I can promise you trouble. And thx to the 21st century and all its fantastic opportunities there is nothing easier than monitoring and tracing internet activity. I will pass your case on to the appropriate officer.
Good Luck ...

you have defruaded the system and admitted to it on this site it`s a pity I am not a Work and Pensions inspector as would take great pleasure in reporting you.
That money is for those who qualify and not for cheats like you.

Just fail to turn up and your claim will be closed after a week. You are highly unlikely to get investigated unless you are grassed up. At least you have been being productive and doing a hell of a lot more than many scroungers do in trying to better yourself. Listen, I did 6 years dealing with plenty of work-shy who were all on the fiddle and milking the system. If people really knew what went on in the dept. of employment and the way the system is abused, they would welcome you signing off at any cost. I had to leave the soul-destroying place because I could not stand it any longer. People who sign on get funded to train for certain vocations and in some areas they even get paid to sign off. Just think of your Job seekers allowance as a foot-up to get out of benefit dependency. Good luck |

just sign off!! say you have got a job, any job, they dont care....
but start paying tax. you could get a job for one day, then leave...
i am on income support at the moment, i hate it. i'm also signing off soon, going to uni...it'll fiinancially cripple me as a single parent bt i cant stand dealing with the benefits oofice. |
