You register a new private Limited Company at Companies House after completing the necessary forms such as first Director and Secretary and situation of registered office. Forms 10 and 12 cover this and then you have the details of Share Capital nominations and subscribers.
This can all be done by yourself if you know what you are doing or you can go through a formation agent such as a Lawyer, Accountant or recognised firm such as Jordans or Severnside who specialise in this type of work. But expect to pay upwards of £250 for this.
You DO NOT have to have two Directors. The legislation states that a Company is only required to have one Director in office at any time and one Secretary. The legislation stipulates that these can NOT be the same person.

it depends on which country you live in ... here in the uk you will need to contract a lawyer and also companies house ( in which you need to register which to have a legal limited company)
it's a long process involving lots of paperwork and a good bit of it will need to be signed/stamped by your lawyer. Once your company is sucessfully registerd you will be the managing Director employed by your company.
legaly speaking you will not be self employed and you will then be able to sign contracts in the name of the company rather then being a sole trader.

You 1st have to have a name and make sure its not being used by anyone else, an accountant can check that up for you, then he will submit the application to the inland revenue and they will send you the appropriate forms.
