Smokers won't come to these stores/pubs etc. And that's quite a significantly huge market, since lots of people do smoke.

If they really need the product consumers will still patronise the local businesses, restaurants etc will be affected if their locations don't allow for outside areas for people to congregate and smoke, depend on the location ie. Pubs will be affected because people want to relax and do what they want in a pub which serves as an extension of home sweet home. But usually there's a lot of outside space surrounding pubs so there shouldn't be a problem, ie they can still stand outside and smoke if the weathers not bad. Would you smoke in your car parked in the local car park? |

as a smoker myself well was a smoker i think people just get over it, i managed with one of those plastic nicorette its like having a fag but you can smoke it anywhere, and i feel sooooooooo much better for it |

small business?....like fast food.....well that would be the main ones hit with it.....but no...itll be ok...i like the new laws they have , weather its in a fast food chain, or in a small business area.................and im a smoker....its all respect for others........one thing i hate is eating my food and someone there smoking...or in a business place and someone smoking.....especiallly when i have my kids there......its disrespectful.....and its a good law not matter where it is placed, they got my vote........again im a smoker...and would it have a afffect on the small business ..no....we have to fast food some where....lol....so people will just have to get use to it |

i think, having worked in restuarants and coffee bars, that business will improve, costomers can have a smoke before or after they are at the business, but more people will be willing to sit where the smoking area used to be as they no longer have to worry about inhaling other peoples smoke while trying to enjoy their food. smoking 'areas' have only really been as effective as a peeing area in a swimming pool - not pleasant |

In my area we have already faced the smoking ban. Not only are the small businesses suffering, but the big ones as well (our casino is dead, a TON of people have been layed off). Small businesses are taking the hardest hit though. Our area relies a lot on tourism, so people are taking their dollars elsewhere. It has been just over a year and things still haven't started to look better. I hope your area has an easier time of it than mine. |

Just think how much better the world would be if nobody smoked or used alcohol (or drugs) and found their fun with a clear head and healthy lungs etc, etc. Deaths on the roads would reduce by30 to50%. Hospital waiting lists would almost disappear along with a massive decrease in domestic and indicriminate violence.I'm sure the world would adapt to that just as it will to the banning of smoking in pubs. |

The business will be running for years longer, because the owners and staff wont die from lung cancer. Also, if you cant smoke in any pub then one pub is a good as the next, so i dont think it will make that much difference. I am a non smoker and i hate being forced to passive smoke when i go out, i think when it is banned i will actually go out more! Think about it, the boss will never know about that sneaky pint at lunchtime! |
