zee | How does a 13 yr. old girl make money WITHOUT asking her parents, or doing jobs around her neighbourhood? |
I am 13, and i want spending/saving money. I WILL NOT & CAN NOT BABYSIT. My neighbourhood does not often let children do their yardwork, ie; mowing lawns, raking leaves, etc. I do not believe in asking elderly for money to help them with simple tasks, I do that for free. Washing cars is not possible either. Garage sales do not bring in enough, around 20-40 dollars. I'm convincing my parents to let me use Ebay. Please, I need creative ways to earn money! I am pretty smart with computers, I am a champion competitive swimmer, I am an all A student, and I am quite sociable. I am also an incredible cook, compared to your average teen. If it helps, I plan to be a chef when I am older. I don't like asking my parents for money, I like to do things myself. I am not allowed to do those GPT websites. I know that this doesn't leave a lot of room for ideas, but if you have any, I would appreciate it. THX again! |

A few ideas.
You can do affiliate marketing by creating a blog, [most are free] in which you talk about your own recipes with photos, Give a few free ONLY if the people will fill in a form giving you their name and email so you can send them offers.
Do research on other recipes and cooking tips and add that to your blog. Or purchase a domain at Godaddy.com but create your website somewhere like Bluehost.com where they give you lots of stuff for free .
The best websites in affilate marketing which means you sign up to sell others products but ON YOUR TOPIC or niche! Don't think that just by putting every affiliate product you can on the site that you will sell a lot.
Since you like cooking so much, what can you come up that is a little different than other cooking sites? Keep adding your own recipes that you create and add the work of others [it's polite to ask them and mention their name or site], give cooking tips, what cooking products, pans, pots, knives are best etc. There is a whole world of stuff like that. Since that is your topic, I would give that a shot. Another idea about that is to find the stories of famous chefs and post them if their stories are inspiring.
In the text you are writing on your site include links to your affilate products. [ones you know are good or come highly recommended.
If you sell on ebay, one thing people do is visit charity used goods stores and find things that are a bargain like videos, DVD's that may be hard to get. Check Amazon.com for the best prices there. I have a friend who has a friend that loves yard sales and finds bargains and then sells them to my friend at cost so he can resell them.
I just sold about $270 worth of used software products like MS Publisher 2002 and so on. I wasn't sure anyone would want them but they work great so I tried and it worked. However had to pay over $30 fees at ebay and paypal.

How's that for starters? |

Try some online jobs, where you don’t have to pay upfront money. Online data entry is an excellent career to consider if you want to work at home. The equipment needed for this type of job is very minimal. You only need a computer with an Internet connection, a table and a comfortable chair. Data entry duties include the inputting of correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets into a home computer and then transmitting that data using the Internet. Work at home data entry personnel may also proofread text, edit information, and maintain databases. Data entry jobs usually offer flexible scheduling, allowing people to work when they want to and as little or as much as they want to. Some of the growing fields for work at home data entry include medical and legal transcription, medical coding and litigation coding.

There aren't any. 13 is too young to find any sort of stable income without the suggestions you've excluded. |

As a are a champion of competitive swimmer, you should make video and show to your friends or classmates' parents and your earned medals. Then you can start to persuade them to let you to teach them how to swim well. They probably want to pay you the cash. I don't think you can make money as a par time cook. You are under legal age to work in the work force. However, you have the exceptional good skills in swimming. |

At 13 you really need your parents to help you out here.
I have a 12 yr old & she wants to save up $200.00 for a Nintendo DS (whatever the hell that is !) So its schoolhols right now & I am giving her lots of jobs to do. We discuss each job, how or how well I want it done & the price (I pay well for a job well done)
She may not reach the full $200 by the end of 2 weeks, but if she tries really hard & puts a great effort into it Im prepared to help out a bit.
There are plenty of jobs around the house you can start off with:
Kitchen cupboards (I hate getting down there to clean them)
Dusting /washing walls.
Cleaning the windows.
Washing the floors.
Cleaning stuff that doesnt get done very often.
Fans
Oven.
I bet that once your parents see how keen you are and that you are serious about this they will be more willing to help you find more work.
There may be a small local business that could use a girl to come in once a day to wash the cups, clean a few windows lots of things. Once they see how good you are, it will get better. |

Invest in a CD (certificate of deposit), the stock market, or a mutual fund. maybe your parents would agree to help you get started with a little bit of money. It's always fun to watch it grow. |
