$20 sounds pretty expensive to make a t shirt. Remember that will be about 4 hours take home pay for your customers, if they even work at all. You can get custom t shirts online for that, or any kind of t at the mall for half that. Why so high? I wouldnt recommend that business venture or work to find a much lower cost supplier. |

It depends on how much it costs to make them. If they cost $4 to make, I would sell for $10. If it cost $8 to make, sell it for $15, etc. |

Market niche, targeting, pricing strategies and competition are a few of the concepts discussed in Marketing 101 to address your question. The answer however should be simpler. I will raise some questions first: Is your T-shirt unique and special? Do you have a reasonable number of customers that would buy your product? Do you expect to have a constant profit flowing in or is this a one-time experiment? If you can answer these questions, based on your response, you will know whether you have a good product at the right price.
A $20/per unit cost seems high to start unless the T-shirt is very special-unique. To make a 50% profit you would have to sell it at $30 each (use these numbers to see whether this price would pay for your time - the number of hours you spend producing one T-shirt). Adjust the price up or down until you are satisfied. Finally, ask how many T-shirts can you sell at that price.
A different view, and more important, is to ask why do you want to do this busines, and if the answwer is not the money but other form of satisfaction, e.g., art creation; then I will say "Go ahead and just do it." My 13-year old teen just won a contest for the design to be printed in the t-shirts of her middle school. Wow! Not prrofitable but she is always dreaming up ideas like yours. Do not give up your ideas! |

it depends on the students, if you have a high school full of Rich kids. sell it for 40 dollars, if your in a normal school 30 dollars, and if you have a school with poor kids sell it for 25. |

wow first off that is a lot of money to start with! Maybe you should try to find a way to make them a little cheaper no parent wants to pay $20 a shirt from school! Think about it what if one fam has three high schoolers? that is $60 right there! You should really rethink the making process, That's too much money! |
