I have loads of old clothes and shoes that I want to clear out for any money possible really - whatever people are prepared to pay (yes, that includes lower than £5!) and I thought ebay would be the place to sell them. however I know ebay has soo much stuff and was just wondering if any of you knew roughly how long it takes to get a response after putting something up? |

You can put the bid on for 24hours, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days or 10 days. It is up to you really. I tend to put mine on for 5 days. Apparently you are meant to time it so the bidding ends on a weekend as that is when sales are at their highest. I dont go by that though as I look on ebay most days. I would advice not to take the p*ss with the postage costs though. If I look at shoes and the postage is more than £3 then I wont even look cos I know for a fact it only costs £2 max to send shoes. I would rather pay a pound or two more on the price of the item cos it is something that really annoys me. Apparently it is also illegal to make a profit out of the queens postage, don;t know if this is actually true.

This depends on what the items are, how much you set the lowest bid at and how you set up the advert. Pay a little extra for a photo of the items and make sure to give clear descriptions. Do not list a bunch of items together, list each item alone or in pairs. Don't expect to sell everything ether, Ebay is very hit and miss like that. If you want to clear everything out with more chance of selling it, book a spot down at your local car boot sale, this might get rid of more for more money. |

it depends whose looking really. there is no specific time. it also depends on how long you left the auction on for. people dont really look at the things which have a week to go, they wait till there is about 3 days left. |

Ebay has set times an item will be listed if your selling using the auction (people bidding) these are either 1, 3, 7 or 10 days. So how long it takes depends on how long you list it for. I would go for a week, lisitngs are listed from the ones ending first so people won't usually bother with the items that aren't ending within the next week. |

There is just no way of telling! I sold my last laptop within 10 minutes!
A first class Panasonic Digital Camera with Leica lens I put up had to be re-listed 3 times before it sold despite it being a genuine bargain and a very good camera (Possibly because non-photography people do not see Panasonic as a camera brand - yet Panasonic make Leica's digital camera's for them!).
As you are obviously new to ebay - a word of warning - get a postal rates leaflet from your post office. A lot of people get their fingers burnt under estimating postage costs. For instance, on parcels there is a price rate for a parcel not exceeding 2 kilo's. But the next rate step is for 2 kilo's to 10 kilo's, so a parcel weighing 2kilos and 100grams will cost the same to send as one almost 10kilo's! |

On Ebay even before you talk of being a seller you have to first be a buyer. Otherwise few will have confidence to buy from you.Get a star by your Ebay name first. By buying 10 things off Ebay. you can spend 15 Brit pounds and have bought 10 things on Ebay. |
