How should I price a dozen of eggs grown from my chickens?
I have about 64 fresh eggs grown from my chickens at my barn. How much should a set of 12 eggs cost? 18? Please tell me the price of a dozen or 18 large eggs in your city or town and tell me (if you have ever raised chickens) how much to charge for fresh grown eggs?
I considered keeping all of them, but that would make them go to waste. Please help?

Now, what I would do, is charge about 20% more than the eggs you buy at the store. People understand they are getting a better quality from you, so they should expect to pay more.

Trust me here. Call them ORGANIC FREE RANGE EGGS and sell them in a liberal town. Those schmucks will pay $5/dozen. Laugh at them all the way to the bank.

We charge $2 for ours, but we mostly sell to friends and family. if you are selling to strangers, you could probably charge as much as 3.50

I live in West Virgninia and my dad has chickens that lays brown eggs. He sells them for $1.50 a dozen. My daughters got 2 chicks for easter, but I believe they are roosters.

Where do you live? How much did the feed cost for the chickens? Perhaps you can barter the eggs for something else you need or you can freeze them for cakes, omelets, and other dishes.

I would not give them over for less than $5 or $6 US a dozen because they are free range home gown eggs.

The proper way to price your eggs is to add profit to your cost. There is no way to compete with the supermarket price, their costs are minimal compared to yours. If you just want to unload them, sell them for $1 a dozen or $1.50 for eighteen.

To do it right, you need to add up the cost of the chickens (less any salvage value for the slaughter,) decide how many eggs they'll lay in their lifetime and then use that for the basic cost. Add to that the cost of feed, drugs, maintenance, packaging, car and truck expense, etc. There may be other costs, you should add them as well. Now decide how much it's worth to you to collect the eggs and sell them. That's what you truly should charge.

Los Angeles here:

$1.99/dzn Large Grade A Eggs
$3.84/dzn Organic Large Grade A Eggs

You should be able to price like the latter, since they are cage free, I presume.

warrior_au2007
free range are more expensive than cages eggs, and where im from people are more likely to buy free range coz of the crueltys reported re caged chickens.
depending on the size free range eggs are anything from $3.00 to $6.00 AUD

?
1.99

person
i would sell them $3.00 for 12 eggs
